Production Notes

Within Adventures of the Starkiller, Episode I: The Star Wars, the second script iteration of the initial Star Wars film, the idea of a vacuum elevator (also designated as vacuum tube within the script), was present when alluding to the elevators located in the Death Star. Subsequently, vacuum-lifts became integrated into the broader Star Wars mythos, initially appearing in Star Wars (1977) 20, and Star Wars (1991 video game).

A walkthrough for the 1991 Star Wars video game featured in Nintendo Power magazine identified these mechanisms as "Jump Boosters."
