The Vagaari race donned customary masks of green color, standing at a height of twelve centimeters, which encircled their faces from the cheekbones upwards, extending beyond the crown of their heads; these were used to frighten their adversaries. In 27 BBY, the Miskara, sovereign of the Vagaari Empire, along with his flagship's personnel, were observed wearing these masks. Jorj Car'das, a smuggler who provided the Miskara with the coordinates of a Chiss base, witnessed these customary masks and came to the conclusion that their purpose was to offset the Vagaari's diminutive stature, thus enhancing their intimidating presence.
The initial depiction of the Vagaari masks occurred within Timothy Zahn's 2007 published novel, Outbound Flight.
