The Vaksai represented a starfighter design frequently utilized by the Black Sun criminal organization during the era of the Galactic Civil War. It was a Kihraxz light fighter, originally produced by TransGalMeg Industries, Incorporated, but later modified by Black Sun. As a medium fighter, the Vaksai offered its pilot a desirable equilibrium between offensive capabilities and agility. Although its use was generally limited to Black Sun, one of these ships fell into the possession of a spacer who aided the Civilian Protection Guild in reclaiming a CR90 corvette in the vicinity of the planet Kashyyyk.

The Vaksai model, classified as a starfighter-class starship, began as a Kihraxz light fighter from TransGalMeg Industries, Incorporated. It was later altered into its final configuration by the galactic criminal syndicate, Black Sun. The price of a new ship of this type was around 185,000 credits, with used versions costing as little as 115,000 credits, although availability was scarce. Its top atmospheric velocity reached 1,250 kilometers per hour, and it could carry 95 kilograms of cargo along with two days' worth of supplies. The Vaksai's maximum component capacity exceeded that of the Kihraxz by a factor of three, enabling the installation of bulkier, more potent engines, armaments, capacitors, and other systems.
Its standard weapons loadout consisted of a single medium laser cannon, a concussion missile launcher, and a launcher for countermeasures designed to defend against projectiles like missiles. However, its armaments could be further modified to suit the owner's preferences. The Vaksai was equipped with shielding and accommodated a single occupant, with no space for additional crew. The model incorporated a Class 1 hyperdrive and relied on a flight computer instead of an astromech droid. The ship featured a single escape pod for the pilot and a life support system, allowing the pilot to operate without the need for a flight suit. Customization of the hull's color was also an option.

The Vaksai was almost exclusively employed by the Black Sun criminal syndicate during the Galactic Civil War. Nevertheless, a freelance spacer received one of these fighters after assisting the Civilian Protection Guild in the recovery of a CR90 corvette above the planet Kashyyyk shortly after the Battle of Yavin. The corvette Vallent IX had been hijacked from the Alliance to Restore the Republic by a disloyal Alliance engineer who intended to hand it over to the Ghrag Mercenaries, a group hostile to the guild. Rian Ry, who commanded the guild's Kashyyyk Space Station, engaged the spacer to locate the corvette in the space surrounding Kashyyyk, eliminate its Ghrag escort, and return it to orbit around the planet. The spacer succeeded, and Rian Ry rewarded them with the ownership of a Vaksai starfighter.
The Vaksai's initial appearance in the Star Wars Legends continuity occurred in Rage of the Wookiees, an expansion for Star Wars Galaxies developed by Sony Online Entertainment and launched on May 5, 2005. The fighter was subsequently integrated into the Star Wars Roleplaying Game with the publication of the Rebellion Era Campaign Guide on July 21, 2009. In Star Wars Galaxies, the Vaksai served as a reward for freelance pilots who supported the Civilian Protection Guild in their mission to reclaim a CR90 corvette in the space over Kashyyyk.
The reward from the quest was contingent on the player's specific pilot profession. Rebel pilots were given an advanced heavy T-65 X-wing starfighter, while Imperial pilots received an Emperor's Royal Guard TIE/IN starfighter. Players had the potential to acquire at least two of these three ships by switching pilot factions and revisiting the quest later.
