Valara

Valara was one of the two moons that circled the home planet of Batuu found in the Outer Rim Territories. It orbited alongside Destra, a moon that could not be seen from Black Spire Outpost.

Behind the scenes

Valara's existence is a piece of the narrative background for Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, a Star Wars themed area. This area first opened at Disneyland on May 31, 2019, and subsequently at Disney's Hollywood Studios on August 29, 2019. Given that Valara is identified as the single moon visible from Black Spire Outpost, Earth's own Moon effectively acts as Valara within the theme parks.

On August 14th, 2015, the day before Galaxy's Edge was revealed, Lucasfilm reportedly registered trademarks for "Mon Destra" and "Valara." The reason for these trademarks wasn't provided. While some fan communities speculated a link to a fan-created character called Darth Destra, the name Valara was already present in Star Wars Legends as both the Jedi Master Valara and the Force Adept Valara Saar.
