Vangaak

The Vangaak functioned as an underwater trawler employed by the Yuuzhan Vong for aquatic navigation. Its skeletal structure, a living entity itself, was constructed from resilient yorik coral. Post-frame maturation, it was populated by a living organism known as kera-boa. This organism proliferated swiftly, giving rise to a semi-sentient protoplasmic colony. This colony extended countless microscopic tendrils that hung from the craft's underside. These tendrils were coordinated to facilitate movement in any given direction. Once the kera-boa system was established, the Vangaak was encased in hundreds of elongated, durable, and muted green scales. These scales originated from the dora-mu, an aquatic species brought over from the Yuuzhan Vong galaxy.

Significantly, these green scales remained viable even after detachment from the dora-mu. They could integrate with the Vangaak's skeletal frame and derive sustenance from the living vessel. Furthermore, these scales demonstrated resistance to blaster fire and possessed regenerative capabilities. Protruding, controlling knobs also emerged from the shell. Vangaak trawlers primarily served to harvest fish and other marine organisms. Typically, it operated mostly underwater, with only a wide, flat dome, acting as a sensory instrument, remaining visible.

The Vangaak sustained itself by deploying a sizable opening at its front end, capable of drawing in fish. The water underwent filtration via dense, adhesive strands of kera-boa tendrils. Larger creatures became trapped in this web, whereas smaller ones bypassed the kera-boa tendrils and entered the Vangaak's digestive membrane, providing energy for the craft. Augmented versions of the Vangaak could be adapted for aquatic warfare through the incorporation of specialized yaret-kor. They were also capable of functioning as troop carriers on the sea, and could be used to invade enemy ships.
