Varada Five, a celestial body of the terrestrial type, existed within the Varada system. This system was situated in the Varada sector, which itself was a part of the Outer Rim Territories'. Throughout the Galactic Civil War, Varada Five served as the location for the main offices of the Varada sector division of the SoroSuub Corporation. This corporation was a conglomerate managed by Sullustan individuals, with its base of operations located on the planet Sullust in the Brema sector.
During that time, Tyanna Tymb, a Sullustan, was given the position of chief operating officer, also called Top OpEx, for the Varada sector holdings of the SoroSuub Corporation. Consequently, Tymb was responsible for overseeing the corporate headquarters on Varada Five and for guiding the expansion of her employer's business interests both within the Varada system and throughout the entire sector.
The first appearance of Varada Five was in "Adversaries: Characters for the Star Wars: New Republic Campaign," a source article for a roleplaying game. Bill Slavicsek was the author of this article, which was intended for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game from West End Games. It was published in the ninety-seventh issue of the Polyhedron magazine in July of 1994. The reference book The Essential Atlas, published in 2009, indicated that the Varada system, and therefore Varada Five, was located in grid square I-19.
