The Varada system existed within the Varada sector of the Outer Rim Territories', and it was the location of the planet Varada Five. During the era of the Galactic Civil War, the Sullustan named Tyanna Tymb held the position of Top OpEx for the Varada sector branch headquarters of the SoroSuub Corporation which was based on Varada Five. Her duties included expanding her employer's influence throughout the Varada system and the surrounding sector.
The Varada sector in the Outer Rim Territories' contained the Varada system.
Varada Five was found in this system.

During the Galactic Civil War, the planet Varada Five hosted the main offices for the Varada sector branch of the SoroSuub Corporation. This conglomerate was managed by Sullustans and headquartered on the planet of Sullust in the Brema sector. During that time, Tyanna Tymb, a Sullustan, was given the role of Top OpEx, or top operating executive, for the SoroSuub Corporation's Varada sector operations. As such, Tymb's responsibilities included supervising the corporation's headquarters on Varada Five and coordinating the expansion of her employer's interests in the Varada system and the rest of the sector.
Shortly after Tymb graduated from the SoroSuub Business Academy, the SoroSuub Corporation home office assigned her to the Varada system. However, Alara Fax, Tymb's longtime rival and the leader of the company Fax Ventures, had been following Tymb's career. This allowed Fax to deduce that a field assignment in a region nominally controlled by SoroSuub Corporation, but with significant potential for expansion, was the only logical position for someone of Tymb's ambition and skills.
Before SoroSuub executives had finalized any decisions regarding Tymb's assignment on datapads, Fax correctly guessed that the Varada system would be the location. As a result, Fax gained a six months' head start to plan her own economic expansion into the region, seeking revenge on Tymb, who Fax accurately predicted would not be satisfied with merely influencing the Varada system and would aim to expand throughout the entire sector.
The Varada system made its debut in "Adversaries: Characters for the Star Wars: New Republic Campaign," a source article for a roleplaying game written by Bill Slavicsek for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game by West End Games. It was published in the ninety-seventh issue of the magazine Polyhedron in July of 1994. Because the article was released outside of the Lucas Licensing process, its canonicity within the Star Wars Legends continuity was never officially confirmed. The reference book The Essential Atlas from 2009 later provided the first canonical mention of the system, placing it in grid square I-19.
