Alara Fax

Alara Fax, the person who established Fax Ventures, was a significant adversary to Tyanna Tymb.

Biography

Alara stood out as one of the few individuals not from Sullust to gain acceptance into the prestigious SoroSuub Business Academy. Her prospects for a successful career as a negotiator seemed promising until she encountered Tyanna Tymb. Tyanna viewed Alara as her foremost competitor for the top student position and was prepared to use any legal means to undermine her. Initially, Tyanna's efforts to destabilize Alara proved futile. Consequently, instead of resorting to her usual manipulative tactics, Tyanna befriended Alara with the intention of gathering as much information as possible.

Alara indeed possessed a vulnerability that Tyanna uncovered during their deceptive friendship. Despite her exceptional skills in negotiating high-value transactions, Alara struggled to comprehend the Sullustan marketing tri-icosahedra theory. Exploiting this weakness, Tymb offered Alara a data card disguised as a study aid. However, this data card secretly contained the answers to the final exam.

During the final test, the embedded programming activated, causing the answers to scroll across Alara's screen. She was promptly accused of cheating. Lacking evidence to prove Tyanna's scheme and aware that denying the charges would appear as an attempt to deflect blame, Alara accepted the Academy's decision. She departed without her graduation certificate and with diminished hopes of securing employment at the extensive SoroSuub Corporation.

Despite her difficulties with the Sullustan marketing theory, Alara gained substantial knowledge at the Business Academy. Beyond the academic lessons, she also learned a crucial lesson: that deceit can be most effectively concealed within friendship. This lesson remained with her, fueling her determination to surpass Tyanna's achievements. Unlike Tyanna, who was not naturally sociable, Alara possessed an effortless charm and charisma. She strategically used friendship as a tool and a weapon, wielding it with a skill that Tyanna could only admire.

Due to the stigma of being expelled from the SoroSuub Academy, few reputable companies were willing to offer her an interview, let alone a position of authority. Instead, Alara ventured into unconventional enterprises, collaborating with figures such as Jabba the Hutt, Talon Karrde, Ploovo Two-For-One, and Stridus Darkov, who welcomed her expertise. Her most extended association was with Stridus's organization, where she leveraged his trust, friendship, and credits to finance her personal ventures until she had the resources to establish her own company. This marked the beginning of Fax Ventures.

She held interests in several lucrative investments and operations across the Outer Rim, and she began to amass the resources needed to broaden her influence in a new direction. From the moment she left Sullust, Alara meticulously monitored Tyanna's career. She was able to anticipate SoroSuub's plans for Tyanna's assignments even before the executives had finalized their decisions. She concluded that the most logical placement for someone with Tyanna's skills and ambitions would be in a region with potential for expansion but only partially under SoroSuub's control. Alara correctly predicted that this location would be the Varada system. Consequently, six months before Tyanna's promotion, Alara initiated her own expansion plans into the area.

Alara also understood that Tyanna would not be satisfied with merely one system but would aim to extend her influence throughout the entire Varada sector. With this in mind, she began to analyze the sector's seven systems, seeking a profitable venture of galactic significance to invest in. Such a venture would not only enhance her company's success but also serve as a first step toward avenging herself against Tyanna. Fortunately, she discovered a hidden opportunity in the form of the planet Bestal Three and the adjacent Kadal Asteroid Field. Before Tyanna and the SoroSuub Corporation could secure the trade and resource rights, Fax Ventures intervened and acquired them.

On the surface, Fax Ventures appeared to be using Bestal Three for processing Aluminite and Corax Ore extracted from the Kadal Asteroid Field. While this provided a credible cover and generated substantial revenue for Alara, the true wealth resided in the jungles of Bestal Three. This location was the only known source of the Vortal Tree, whose seeds could be used to create highly effective medicinal medpacs. Alara commenced the production of these medpacs in 4 ABY, directly competing with SoroSuub. She anticipated that this would deeply offend Tyanna and potentially damage her reputation within the SoroSuub hierarchy.

Personality and traits

Alara was known for holding onto those she attracted, and had a fun-loving cheerful nature which made her a joy to deal with and be around. In contrast to her rival Tyanna Tymb, who employed cunning, deceit, and ruthlessness to negotiate deals, Alara simply won people over to her side.

Her beauty was matched by her business acumen. She possessed midnight black hair that accentuated her fair complexion and large, dark eyes. The sparkle in her eyes and her captivating smile became her signature, drawing people to her like a gravity well attracts ships and space debris.
