Kadal Asteroid Field

The Kadal Asteroid Field existed within the Bestal system, which itself was situated in the Varada sector of the Outer Rim Territories'. This asteroid field was positioned relatively close to the planet known as Bestal Three, and it held asteroids abundant in aluminite along with corax ores.

During the time of the Galactic Civil War, Alara Fax, who directed Fax Ventures, was motivated to get revenge on Tyanna Tymb, the top operating executive of the SoroSuub Corporation's Varada sector holdings, who was once her rival. Therefore, Fax investigated the star systems within the sector, searching for potential business ventures where she could compete with Tymb. Upon discovering the ore deposits within the Kadal Asteroid Field, Fax successfully obtained a contract that granted her company the right to mine the asteroids and refine the ore on Bestal Three. Later, Tymb acquired the trade and resource rights pertaining to the Bestal system, and in doing so, she found out about Fax Ventures' corporate rights to the Kadal Asteroid Field and Bestal Three. Consequently, she became determined to secure the rights to the entire system for the SoroSuub Corporation.

Behind the scenes

The Kadal Asteroid Field was first featured in "Adversaries: Characters for the Star Wars: New Republic Campaign," a source article for a roleplaying game written by Bill Slavicsek for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. It was released in Polyhedron 97 during July of 1994. The reference book The Essential Atlas, published in 2009, specified the location of the Bestal system, and thus the asteroid field, as grid square I-19.
