Bestal Three

Located in the Outer Rim Territories' Varada sector, Bestal Three was a planet dominated by jungle environments. This world was known for its unique flora, notably the vortal tree, whose seeds possessed valuable medicinal applications. During the Galactic Civil War, the ambitious entrepreneur Alara Fax secured exclusive rights for her enterprise, Fax Ventures, to mine the asteroids within the adjacent Kadal Asteroid Field. Bestal Three then became the location for processing the extracted ores. However, the asteroid mining operation concealed a secondary, more clandestine purpose: the creation of potent medpacs using stimulants derived from the vortal tree seeds.

Description

Situated within the Bestal system, which itself resided in the Outer Rim Territories' Varada sector, Bestal Three was a planet. As the third orbital body from its star system, it was relatively near the Kadal Asteroid Field. The planet's surface was characterized by dense jungle, and the vortal tree was a prominent example of its native flora.

History

Alara Fax secured corporate rights to Bestal Three.

In the era of the Galactic Civil War, Alara Fax, leading Fax Ventures, harbored a desire for retribution against Tyanna Tymb, a top operating executive who managed the SoroSuub Corporation's holdings within the Varada sector. Fax meticulously investigated the sector's star systems, seeking opportunities to challenge Tymb's dominance. Her research uncovered the medicinal qualities inherent in the vortal trees' seeds found on Bestal Three, alongside substantial deposits of aluminite and corax ores located in the asteroids of the Kadal Asteroid Field.

Subsequently, Fax successfully negotiated a contract granting her company the right to mine these asteroids and process the extracted ore on Bestal Three. This asteroid mining venture served as a front for a more lucrative endeavor: harvesting the vortal tree seeds and utilizing them to produce potent healing stimulants, which were then used to manufacture highly effective medpacs. When Tymb later acquired trade and resource rights for the Bestal system, she discovered Fax Ventures' existing rights to the Kadal Asteroid Field and Bestal Three. This discovery fueled her determination to secure control of the entire system for the SoroSuub Corporation.

Behind the scenes

The planet Bestal Three made its debut in "Adversaries: Characters for the Star Wars: New Republic Campaign," a sourcebook for the roleplaying game written by Bill Slavicsek and intended for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game by West End Games. It was featured in the ninety-seventh issue of the Polyhedron magazine, released in July of 1994. In 2009, the reference book The Essential Atlas pinpointed the Bestal system, and consequently Bestal Three, within grid square I-19.
