The Vengeance served as the flagship of Bregius Golthan, who held the title of Imperial Advisor, and was a Star Destroyer customized for his use.
This vessel participated in several conflicts with the New Republic's military. Following one of these skirmishes, it underwent repair work at the Wroona Stardock. During this period, Dirk Harkness and Jai Raventhorn, a pair of hired guns, managed to board the ship undetected. Goltan had been hunting the duo for a long time, and Harkness had even endured torture at the Advisor's hand, resulting in the loss of an eye. Disguised as technicians, they "repaired" the bridge area, but in reality, they were planting explosive devices.
Their scheme faced an unexpected hurdle when Golthan ran into the saboteurs in a hallway. A fierce battle ensued, during which the mercenaries successfully eliminated Golthan but found themselves cornered in his personal quarters. Unable to reach the docking bay for their planned departure, the pair launched themselves from the ship using Golthan's personal escape pod. The explosives they planted detonated, tearing through the Star Destroyer's bridge, and further damage was inflicted when the mercenaries' allies launched an attack from their own spacecraft. The resulting devastation rendered the ship irreparable. Numerous escape pods crashed onto the planet's surface, where they were recovered and sold to the Wroonian Salvage Guild.
