Visual Guides

Visual Guides, a complimentary and continuous offering on StarWars.com, delivered an extensive, insider's perspective on the Star Wars Saga motion pictures. This feature was launched on April 30, 2007 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Star Wars saga, a celebration that spanned the entire year. Currently, a selection of "chapters" focusing on Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope are accessible. The feature bore resemblance to works like the Star Wars Visual Dictionaries, Star Wars: Behind the Magic, and Pablo Hidalgo's former website, The Indexed Trilogy, which is no longer active.

Each "chapter" presented a segment of the original screenplay relevant to the scene(s) being examined, a section dedicated to behind-the-scenes trivia, unique still images and photographs, and a collection of annotated screenshots. The annotated screenshots provided explanations of elements within the movie, both from an in-universe perspective and from the viewpoint of the production process. In-universe elements were denoted with white/black coloring (dependent on the lighting conditions), whereas production notes were highlighted in green.

Following late May 2007, the Visual Guide feature was put on hold for half a year. It was revived on November 19 of the same year, only to be discontinued again shortly thereafter. It is currently on an indefinite hiatus. By the time of its termination, a total of eight chapters had been made available. Although the website and its chapters can still be accessed through the Internet Archive, the images that accompanied the chapters are no longer available on the archived site and can only be found on fan-created pages.
