Vokara Che, a female Twi'lek by birth, achieved the esteemed rank of Jedi Master. Renowned for her exceptional abilities as a Jedi healer, she dedicated her service to the Jedi Order at their central Jedi Temple situated on Coruscant during the tumultuous era known as the Clone Wars.
As a female Twi'lek, Vokara Che distinguished herself as a highly skilled Jedi healer, holding the position of Chief Healer within the Halls of Healing of the Jedi Temple. In the year 22 BBY, the Jedi Order experienced a significant loss of numerous Jedi during the events on Geonosis, marking the beginning of the Clone Wars. While many Jedi survived the initial battle, a considerable number sustained injuries, placing Che in charge of their medical care. Notably, Anakin Skywalker, a Padawan, suffered the amputation of his forearm in a duel against Count Dooku, a former Jedi Master who had abandoned the Order to become a Dark Lord of the Sith. Skywalker's mentor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, also sustained injuries. Upon their return to the Temple on Coruscant, Che initiated a healing trance for Skywalker to mitigate the trauma of his injury, with plans to provide him with a prosthetic arm. Additionally, Che dispatched a healer to induce a healing trance in Kenobi; however, Kenobi declined, preferring to confer with his Padawan.
Senator Padmé Amidala, who had developed a romantic connection with Skywalker, arrived at the Halls of Healing, adamantly requesting to see him. Che denied Amidala's request, citing Skywalker's ongoing healing trance and pointing out that Amidala herself required medical attention for various injuries. Despite this, the senator refused treatment from the Jedi or a medcenter, remaining steadfast in her desire to see Skywalker. Kenobi then entered the room and intervened. Che expressed her frustration at his delaying his own healing but permitted Kenobi to speak with Amidala. Kenobi successfully persuaded the senator to accept treatment from the Jedi and return to her apartment.
Later, Che met with Master Yoda in her private chambers within the Halls, providing him with updates on the condition of the Jedi undergoing treatment. The Twi'lek healer voiced her concerns regarding Kenobi, who was troubled by the state of his Padawan. Having known Kenobi since his early years, both Che and Yoda were deeply concerned. Yoda resolved to offer guidance to Kenobi. Che was relieved by Yoda's decision to assist Kenobi, but before Yoda left, she informed him of Amidala's arrival at the Temple, her determination to see Skywalker, and the potential for an official complaint to be lodged.
Several weeks later, Kenobi—who had finished Skywalker's training and was now a Jedi Master himself—was on his way back to the Temple, having received a tip from his old friend Dexter Jettster, the owner of a local diner, when he was critically injured in a terrorist bombing. Stuck on a rooftop and unable to call for help, Kenobi was eventually found by Skywalker—now a Knight after completing the Jedi Trials—who immediately alerted the Temple. Yoda, Che, along with two other healers, arrived to provide medical attention to Kenobi. While Skywalker and Yoda went back to the Temple with the information Kenobi had provided, Che and the other healers stayed behind to stabilize Kenobi for transport. After they returned to the Temple, Che allowed Yoda to speak with Kenobi about a mission that was to be assigned to Skywalker.
Once Kenobi had recovered sufficiently, "well enough," Che permitted Skywalker to visit his former Master, but not before cautioning Skywalker against agitating Kenobi. However, after Skywalker received his assignment from Kenobi, that was precisely what Skywalker did. When the two began to argue, Kenobi suffered a relapse. Che swiftly entered the room, pushing Skywalker aside and immediately employing a healing crystal to treat Kenobi. When Kenobi asked about Skywalker, Che informed him that his former Padawan had departed, while signaling Skywalker to leave as well. Skywalker, however, refused to leave and remained for a few more minutes to hear the rest of his orders. Che expressed sympathy for Skywalker's concerns regarding Kenobi's recovery before urging him to leave.
Kenobi subsequently embarked on a perilous mission based on intelligence gathered by Senator Bail Organa. Following their rescue from the Sith planet of Zigoola by Senator Amidala, Kenobi was transported to the Halls of Healing for treatment. Che placed Kenobi in a deep healing trance to address his numerous injuries, including a fractured leg. After a week, Che declared that he was well enough to leave the Halls but restricted him to the Temple grounds, threatening "her most severe displeasure" should he disobey.
