Vorlip was a female Chiss who held the Junior Captain rank within the Chiss Defense Force, serving as commander of the vessel known as the Tomra.
While traversing the corridors of the Tomra, Vorlip encountered Mitth'raw'nuru, who was at the time a Cadet, in conversation with the Sky-walker Al'iastov. Approaching them, Vorlip made it clear that Thrawn's presence in that particular hallway was unauthorized. Thrawn explained his desire to familiarize himself with the ship. To evaluate the extent of Thrawn's progress, Vorlip blindfolded him and asked him to point towards the Tomra's bow. Thrawn's accurate response impressed Vorlip, as it had taken her fifteen voyages across four different ships to develop a similar level of awareness.
Following her conversation with Cadet Mitth'raw'nuru, Al'iastov expressed her uncertainty regarding her future after retiring from her role as a sky-walker. She posed this question to Vorlip, who responded that Al'iastov would be adopted into one of the Nine Ruling Families as a mark of honor for her service to the Chiss Ascendancy. However, in discussing the sky-walker's future, Vorlip inadvertently referred to Al'iastov as a former sky-walker, thus being the first to inform Al'iastov of her impending departure from the Chiss Defense Force. Upon reaching Naporar, she, Al'iastov, and Mafole would complete the necessary paperwork pertaining to the conclusion of Al'iastov's sky-walker service.
Vorlip made an appearance in Thrawn Ascendancy: Chaos Rising, a novel authored by Timothy Zahn and released on September 1, 2020.
