Vorshak

Vorshaks, known colloquially as "bark-eaters," were a species of furry, four-legged animal that made their home on the Forest Moon of Endor. Their powerful front incisors enabled them to devour the flora of the woodland. In the year 3 ABY, a particular vorshak was captured by a group of Duloks and unleashed within the Ewoks' Bright Tree Village, where it commenced causing widespread damage. The Ewok medicine man Logray successfully domesticated the vorshak using a magical elixir of affection and thus, saved the village.

Biology and appearance

Vorshaks were quadrupedal beasts that resided on the Forest Moon of Endor, a planet situated in the Outer Rim Territories of the galaxy. Their bodies were covered in dense yellow pelts, marked with dark splotches surrounding their dark orbs. A distinguishing feature of vorshaks were their fluffy tails and sizable, robust front fangs.

Behavior

Vorshaks were plant-eating creatures, subsisting on the trees of the forest. The native inhabitants of Endor, the Ewoks, found this habit to be "annoying," hence their nickname for vorshaks: "bark-eaters." Vorshaks displayed no indications of intelligence, and they could be pacified through the use of love potions.

History

A vorshak was set loose in Bright Tree Village.

During 3 ABY, the Duloks of Endor, under the leadership of ruler Gorneesh, hatched a plan to pilfer the seasonal crop from their relatives, the Ewoks of Bright Tree Village. Following a strategy conceived by the Dulok witch doctor Umwak, the Dulok clan snared a vorshak and transported it to Bright Tree Village. The vorshak proceeded to devour the village's trees, thereby diverting the attention of the Ewok community and affording the Duloks an opportunity to abscond with their harvest.

Upon hearing the vorshak within the village, the Ewoks Wicket Wystri Warrick and Weechee Warrick convened with other villagers to observe the animal. When Wicket pointed out that the vorshak was consuming the village's essential trees, the tribe's leader, Chirpa, proposed mobilizing fighters to confront the beast. However, the Ewok Shaman Logray offered an alternative approach and tasked his apprentice, Teebo, with retrieving a love potion. Logray saturated a net with the potion, and instructed Wicket and Teebo to ensnare the vorshak with it.

The vorshak became entangled in the net and initially resisted, but soon succumbed to the potion's effects. Once the potion took hold, the vorshak was pacified and began to frolic and gambol through the forest. Upon witnessing this transformation and realizing that the Ewoks would soon return, the Duloks made their retreat.

Behind the scenes

Vorshaks made their debut in "Blue Harvest," the twelfth installment of the animated television program Ewoks. The script for the episode was penned by Paul Dini and Sam Wilson, and it was first broadcast on November 23, 1985.
