Vreni Island, situated in a southern sea of Corellia, was a relatively small landmass. A small community, also called Vreni Island, existed on the island.
The settlement on Vreni Island was a popular destination for tourists, offering luxurious hotel accommodations and open-air cafes. The Grand Theater of Vreni Island, an open-air venue, was a particularly well-known attraction within the settlement. A thick forest and a stunning beach were located outside of the settlement itself.
As the Galactic Civil War intensified following the Battle of Yavin, the settlement eventually became a fortified base for the Rebel Alliance.
In the year 1 ABY, Vreni Island was the location of a significant Life Day celebration. A group of Wookiees, including one named Kkatamik, journeyed to the settlement with the intention of promoting the principles of Life Day.
Corran Horn and Mirax Terrik Horn possessed a hologram depicting the island, which they kept in their home.
Karrek Flim, Venthan Chassu, and Vinya Maysor were either residents of or visitors to the settlement sometime after the Battle of Yavin.
Vreni Island was featured in the video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game that was developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts before the game was shut down on December 15, 2011. The name Vreni Island is used to refer to both the island's geographical location and the settlement situated on it. Within the game, Vreni Island served as a permanent stronghold for the Rebel Alliance. With the release of the "Publish 11.5" update on December 14, 2004, Vreni Island became the venue for the annual in-game event known as the Wookiee Life Day. However, the Life Day event was later substantially revised and relocated to different settlements in subsequent years.
