Wald's Parts

Watto's Junkshop, which later became known as Wald's Parts, was a business specializing in discarded goods. It was owned by Watto, a dealer of junk, and located in the city of Mos Espa on the planet Tatooine. Anakin Skywalker, along with his mother, Shmi, and his Rodian friend W. Wald, were employed there during Anakin's childhood. Anakin and Wald functioned as mechanics, while Shmi performed general labor. The store's greeting was either "What do you want?" or "Hi chuba da nago?" in the Huttese language. Jawas, constantly searching for salvaged items, were among the shop's most frequent patrons.

Despite its small size compared to other businesses in the city, the shop had a substantial inventory. Watto's business heavily relied on transactions with Jawas, and he only accepted currency from Tatooine. The shop's distinctive feature was a bell-shaped roof, which Watto constructed to resemble the nests found on his native planet.

In 32 BBY, Qui-Gon Jinn visited Watto's establishment in search of a hyperdrive component, specifically a T-14 hyperdrive generator, to repair the Queen's Royal Starship.

Upon his retirement, Watto transferred ownership to Wald, who subsequently renamed the business Wald's Parts.

Considering Watto's simple nature as a Toydarian, his shop exhibited a surprising degree of complexity in its design. It differed significantly from the numerous other shops and market stalls that filled Mos Espa, which partially explains the success of the avaricious shopkeeper.

The main floor served as the primary area of the shop, housing the majority of Watto's droid technology and smaller machinery. This included items such as moisture vaporators, calibration instruments, moobian torsion valves, and even a specialized bath for droid lubrication. Watto utilized a scenter to infuse the air with the scent of his home planet.

Above the main floor was a peculiar bell-shaped structure, supported by durasteel rings, that served as a visual attraction for customers. This structure was intended to evoke the muck nests of Toydaria and functioned as Watto's personal perch. Within this "nest" was a display shelf showcasing podrace memorabilia, including a victory chain won by Sebulba and a glove recovered from the crash site of Bekk Tunit. It also contained polyfiber netting with Toydarian muck lake atmosphere. To regulate temperature, the shop's double walls were constructed from durasteel with a layer of coolant circulating between them. Warm air was expelled through vents located in the shop's skirting and upper section.

Outside, an arched entryway led to a junkyard, where Watto stored his larger vehicle components, such as turbine engines, hyperdrives, and other assorted machinery. This junkyard was a crucial part of his business, generating significant wupiupi.
