The region of Waymancy Hollow was named after the Waymancy system located in the Inner Rim. For a millennium before 7811 BBY, the Sisters of the Machinesmith operated within the Waymancy Hollow, where they researched and enhanced technology originating from the Galactic Republic. In that particular year, a calamitous first contact occurred between the Republic and warships linked to the region, triggering the war referred to as the Waymancy Storm.
Leading up to 7811 BBY, the region called Waymancy Hollow existed in the time. It was named after both the Waymancy system, found within the Inner Rim, and an object known as the Waymancy bridal seat.

For a full millennium, the Sisters of the Machinesmith, who were based in the Waymancy Hollow, devoted themselves to studying and improving upon technological advancements from the Galactic Republic, including items such as weapons and starship power generators. In the year 7811 BBY, the Republic made initial contact with warships that were associated with the Waymancy Hollow.
This initial meeting, which proved to be a disaster for the Republic's naval forces, ultimately escalated into the conflict known as the Waymancy Storm. This conflict was fought between the Republic and the Signatories of Waymancy across various star systems situated in the Northern Dependencies area of the Inner Rim, as well as the Expansion Region. During a speech given on the 25th anniversary of Victory in the Waymancy Storm in 7786 BBY, the Republic's Supreme Chancellor, Nagratha, made a brief mention of the Waymancy Hollow while recounting the history of the war.
The reference book The Essential Guide to Warfare, written by Jason Fry and Paul R. Urquhart in 2012, was the first time the Waymancy Hollow was mentioned.
