Wutzek represented the last of the Force demons known to exist during the time of the Imperial Era. He was a member of a race of incredible power that had once held dominion over the galaxy in the ancient times. A cult of evil worshippers, known as the Five, captured Wutzek and held him captive for countless years as a spectacle aboard their vessel located within the Hellhoop. During the events of the Galactic Civil War, he managed to break free with assistance from the Wookiee Chewbacca between the years of 0 and 3 ABY, and subsequently annihilated all traces of the Five.
Wutzek, a Force demon of immense power and age, originated from a race that had once governed the galaxy in the distant past. However, by the time of the Galactic Civil War, Wutzek was the sole survivor of his kind. He was eventually seized by the Five, a secretive cult devoted to evil, who dwelled deep within the region of space called the Hellhoop. The Five imprisoned Wutzek within a unique trap located in their warship's recreation area, alongside other unusual items they had acquired during their time in the Hellhoop.
Wutzek patiently awaited an opportunity to escape for many centuries. That opportunity finally presented itself between 0 and 3 ABY, when the Five captured Rebel leaders Leia Organa, Han Solo, and Chewbacca. The Five intended to torment and execute Organa and Solo, as they had done to numerous unfortunate travelers before. However, they underestimated the Wookiee Chewbacca, viewing him as nothing more than a simple-minded ape, and placed him in the recreation room with Wutzek. Sensing an opening, Wutzek used telepathy to persuade Chewbacca to release him from his confinement. Once free, the demon quickly and brutally killed and consumed the souls of his former captors. Wutzek then allowed the rebels to leave freely as repayment for their help, before completely destroying the Five's ship, and resumed his unrestricted reign over the galaxy.
Once an all-powerful and highly intelligent being with incredible destructive capabilities, Wutzek was outmaneuvered by the Five, who successfully imprisoned him. His pride deeply wounded, Wutzek remained silent and resentful for a long time, waiting for a chance to exact revenge. Wutzek possessed the ability to telepathically access the minds of nearby sentient beings, projecting images and memories from his past. He utilized this ability to convince Chewbacca to free him, relishing the ensuing violence, as he had missed the act of killing during his long imprisonment. However, after destroying the Five, Wutzek experienced a new emotion: gratitude towards his rescuers. He showed this gratitude by allowing them to escape before obliterating the Five's ship. Wutzek manifested as a large, blue white cloud, constantly shifting and swirling with light.
Wutzek made his debut in The Pandora Effect, a comic story from 1981 penned by Alan Moore and featured in The Empire Strikes Back Monthly 151. The artwork for Wutzek in the story was created by Adolfo Buylla.
