The Xiytiar-class heavy transport, a substantial cargo ship, was produced by TransGalMeg Industries, Incorporated. These unarmed transports were generally owned by large corporate entities and the Galactic Empire, organizations that could bear the expense of securing the vessels against criminal activity.
Xiytiar-class heavy transports were robust ships, resembling an uneven dumbbell in form and possessing a size comparable to the Mb-C1 heavy transport from Mobquet's line. The design of the vessel accommodated a crew of ten individuals. A standard crew consisted of a pilot, a co-pilot, a loadmaster, and an engineer, supported by six technicians. Although challenging, the ship could be operated by a minimal crew of only two individuals.
The Xiytiar-class was notably slow; however, it compensated for this with state-of-the-art navicomputer, hyperdrive, and cargo-management systems. Xiytiar ships lacked weaponry, thus they depended on escort vessels for protection against pirates and other criminal syndicates. The larger, forward section of the ship housed the command deck, living spaces, and cargo bays, accessible through a sizable hatch located on the ship's front. The central area contained sensor systems, cabling, machinery, and a narrow passageway connecting the front section to the engineering section at the rear. The aft portion of the ship contained the drive and power systems, the primary computer core, and shield generators.
Large corporations were the primary purchasers and operators of the Xiytiar-class transport. Due to their limitations in transporting high-value goods, the Galactic Empire's merchant marine employed Xiytiar transports to move bulk food supplies and substantial equipment across the galaxy. A nomadic group known as the Wanderers possessed seven of these cumbersome ships, using them to travel from system to system as a mobile trading post.
On one occasion, the owners of the Xiytiar-class transport Double Down attempted to boost their earnings by transporting a shipment of high-value goods without defensive escort ships and with only a minimal crew. Information about the ship's cargo was leaked, leading to simultaneous attacks by multiple pirate groups, each vying for the valuable cargo.
