During the era of the Clone Wars, Yaruba held the position of king on Kessel, while Kinash Lock functioned as his majordomo. In the time of the Galactic Empire's reign, this family permitted the gathering of spice from one of the planet's hemispheres. Despite acknowledging the harsh treatment of the slaves within the spice mines, and the mineral's transformation into an illicit substance used by criminal organizations like the Pyke Syndicate, the family chose to disregard these issues.
