The Yashuvhi were the descendants of Humans who, in ages long past, attempted to colonize the planet Yashuvhu. According to Chiss records, the arrival of this Human population occurred a little over three millennia before Luke Skywalker's rediscovery of the planet, though their arrival may have been even earlier. This Human group became isolated from the rest of the galaxy, leading them to develop their own distinct culture and achieve self-sufficiency. A notable example of this divergence was the evolution of the Yashuvhi language. Upon arriving, the crew of the Pathfinder III, a Galactic Republic exploration vessel, determined that the Yashuvhi language was a significantly evolved form of Galactic Basic Standard. During their initial contact, the crew also learned that the Yashuvhi population was substantial, but dispersed across the planet's surface.
The Yashuvhi possessed a tradition rooted in the Force, which originated from the arrival of a Jedi many millennia before their rediscovery. This particular Jedi was believed to have been a Human who crash-landed and became marooned on the planet. He integrated into Yashuvhi society and started a family. This Jedi authored a "sacred scroll" containing excerpts from the Jedi Code, which was then passed down through his lineage. The Jedi's descendants became a bloodline of Force Adepts who, while talented, lacked formal training. One such descendant was Valara Saar, who would eventually rise to become a prominent spiritual leader and protector of the planet.
Yashuvhu was brought back into contact with the Republic in the years leading up to the Clone Wars. The Pathfinder III landed on the planet to carry out a first contact exploration mission. The Yashuvhi people gathered around the crew, eager to know if they were Jedi who had come to reside among them. The first-contact specialists endeavored to educate the natives about the Jedi and to gain knowledge about the people as well.
Valara Saar persuaded the crew of Pathfinder III to take her away from the planet, hoping to become a Jedi. Despite acquiring some fundamental skills, she was unable to join the Order. She briefly traveled the galaxy, but ultimately returned to the Yashaka Mountains. There, within a small, secluded dwelling, she became a teacher of the Force to the people of Yashuvhu, earning the title of "Prophetess." She also played a role in defending her planet from a threatening Chiss Ascendancy group that had also discovered the world. Initially, Saar refrained from meeting with the leaders of the Chiss advance landing party. When the Chiss attempted to approach her mountain residence without invitation, her impressive abilities forced them to retreat. The Chiss contact team hastily withdrew. During the confrontation with the Chiss, she brandished what appeared to be a lightsaber. The Chiss documented the entire event following their retreat.
The planet was largely forgotten by the wider galactic community by the time of the Yuuzhan Vong War. Yashuvhu was later rediscovered by Jedi Master Luke Skywalker and a team of Jedi who were searching for Zonama Sekot in 28 ABY. During their search, the Jedi team conducted research at the Chiss Expeditionary Library on Csilla. This research led to the discovery of Valara Saar's teachings. The Cheunh text also detailed how the Chiss had been driven off the planet by the "Prophetess" known as Valara Saar.
