Yul-Li, a young male Human Master within the Jedi Order, acted as a dedicated protector for Master Yonlach. This service occurred on Tatooine during the declining years of the Cold War between the Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire.
During the time of the Cold War, Yul-Li maintained a close bond with Master Yonlach. He was with him during his solitary existence on Tatooine, when Nomen Karr and his new Padawan, Jaesa Willsaam, showed up to visit the hermit.
Sometime following their departure, Darth Baras dispatched his apprentice to locate Jaesa Willsaam and pursue those who had knowledge of her. Yul-Li was among those individuals, along with Yonlach. Upon the Sith apprentice's arrival, Yul-Li implored Yonlach to seek safety, offering to confront the Sith alone. However, Yonlach declined, choosing to initially converse with the Sith. He informed the Sith Warrior that he was aware of the Sith's attempts to lure Jaesa out and had already cautioned her via their Force connection. He urged the Sith to retreat, but the Warrior remained resolute. Master Yonlach then incapacitated the Warrior's companion, and he and Yul-Li engaged the Warrior, but they were outmatched. Not wanting Yonlach to die for a Padawan, Yul-Li revealed Jaesa's identity, but Yonlach was compelled to erase all of his memories of Jaesa and her location and put him to sleep before he could disclose any further information.
Yul-Li demonstrated unwavering devotion to his master, Yonlach. He frequently expressed concern for Yonlach's well-being and encouraged him to withdraw so that he could face the Sith alone. He was even prepared to reveal Jaesa's name if it meant preserving Yonlach's life, reasoning that Yonlach was a wise master while Jaesa was merely a Padawan. When the Sith Warrior inquired whether Yul-Li also desired to live, the Jedi responded that his own existence held less significance.
