Zandor, situated on the forest moon of Endor, was a desolate desert landscape. This harsh terrain served as the habitat for both Ogres and the sentient, rock-based entities referred to as Zandor Rockers. The Gorge of Fire acted as a natural boundary, separating Zandor from the territories inhabited by the Ewok people. The only means of traversing this fiery chasm was by way of the fabled Rainbow Bridge.
The location of Zandor was on Endor, but gaining entry to it required crossing the Gorge of Fire. The Ewoks believed that the only method to achieve this was by utilizing the mythical rainbow crystal, which had the power to materialize the Rainbow Bridge. The only plant life documented in this region consisted of Sunnydew flowers. However, the Ogre named Gantu plundered all of the flowers for the valuable nectar the flowers produced, transforming the land into a barren, rocky expanse.

Zandor was once a flourishing region, abundant with sunnydew flowers, which generated a restorative nectar vital for the survival of the area's plant life. However, the destructive Ogre, Gantu, eventually decimated all the flowers, thereby transforming Zandor into a desolate wasteland. Subsequently, he launched raids across the Rainbow Bridge into Ewok territories, before Chief Chirpa of Bright Tree Village pursued him back to Zandor and absconded with the rainbow crystal. Wicket Wystri Warrick and [Teebo](/article/teebo-legends], two other Ewoks, also journeyed into Zandor some years later and drove Gantu away, leading to a resurgence of sunnydews that held the promise of spreading throughout the area.
Two known sentient species inhabited Zandor. Both Ogres and Zandor Rockers resided in Zandor, but Ewoks visited on a couple of occasions for brief stays. Ewoks were never indigenous to Zandor, however. Ogres were a species of large, pale, near-Human beings that dwelled in caves within Zandor. Gantu, the only known member of this species, utilized the rainbow crystal to raid Bright Tree Village, as well as the territory of the Zandor Rockers.
The Zandor Rockers were a race of sentient rocks that possessed the ability to move. They were hospitable towards visitors and frequently welcomed them, as demonstrated by their reception of Wicket Wystri Warrick and Teebo. They could rapidly construct subterranean tunnels using only their bodies, as they did to create a passage beneath the Gorge of Fire.
Zandor served as a key setting in Ewoks 1, authored by David Manak, illustrated by Warren Kremer, and released in 1985.
