Before the Massacre at Ossus, Jariah's father met his end during a [skirmish_on_roon] (link). He was slain by Rasi Tuum, a Master Jedi of the Cathar species. Syn and Rav engaged in the destruction of a gem miners' camp, likely individuals they intended to conduct trade with. Tuum, attempting to protect the miners, launched an assault against them. During this conflict, Zareb was killed, an event that the misunderstood Jariah witnessed with great distress. Rav expressed the opinion that Jariah would have departed from the pirate's employ if he possessed his father's intellect.
