Ziakas, a Derriphan type being, resided within the Glow Dome of Adarlon, where females were its prey. It sustained itself by consuming their life force when they were captivated by the dome's light displays. Kandria A'Daasha, a co-owner of the Glow Dome, was one of the individuals it parasitized.
Ziakas existed as a concentrated sphere of dark side energy, functioning as a parasite that needed to consume the life essence of a host. Early on, Jedi nearly succeeded in destroying it. Somehow, it made its way to the planet of Adarlon and latched onto Kandria A'Daasha, who was a co-owner of the Glow Dome. Because her infection was so recent, the blackouts and the control Ziakas exerted were mistakenly attributed to simple exhaustion from partying, rather than a more sinister entity.
Despite its form as a ball of energy, Ziakas exhibited high intelligence and was more reserved and emotional compared to others of its kind. It had a quick temper but also demonstrated caution and suspicion towards Jedi. It showed a preference for targeting females and humanoids over males and alien species. It also valued maintaining a low profile, choosing to host and feed discreetly, and employing memory wipes to make its host unaware of the secret control it was exerting.
Being a Derriphan, Ziakas possessed considerable power in the dark side, especially concerning control-based abilities. It also had the capacity to utilize the skills of its host by manipulating their bodies and accessing their memories; however, once it began to absorb those skills and drain those memories, it lost the ability to use them.
Ziakas's design came from Paul Danner and Bill Smith for Wretched Hives of Scum & Villainy. This was a supplement for the Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game, released by West End Games during 1997. Tom O'Neill provided the illustrations.
