The institution known as the zoological academy existed on the planet of Alderaan in the time of the Republic Era. Following the ecological collapse that befell the planet Kwenn, the zoological academy, having deemed the planet beyond saving, relocated a group of teal oroko—echinoderms that were native to Kwenn—to a protected lagoon on Alderaan. Later, during the High Republic Era, when Kwenn underwent the Grand Renewal and was revitalized, these oroko were returned to their original home planet through collaborative work between Jedi Master Oppo Rancisis and the Jedi Order.
