A scientist, who was a male person, inadvertently brought into existence the Triple-Zero protocol personality matrix. This occurred when they incorporated cooperative algorithms—specifically morality, empathy, equability, and loyalty—into the matrix. The scientist observed that the matrix was undermining these algorithms as quickly as they were being developed, resulting in a psychotic personality. Although intrigued by what they had made, the scientist deemed it a failure and instructed their assistant to dispose of it in the trash compactor. Nevertheless, the personality matrix commandeered the droid assistant's physical form and evaded being destroyed. Several years afterward, Triple-Zero uncovered his past memories, and was repulsed by the conditions of his origin.
The initial depiction of 0-0-0's creator occurred in flashbacks featured in Doctor Aphra (2016) 30, a canon comic penned by Simon Spurrier, with illustrations by Emilio Laiso, which was made available on March 27 of 2019.
