Clone Trooper 1139 was a member of the clone trooper ranks, fighting for the Galactic Republic throughout the duration of the Clone Wars.
On one occasion, during a mission, 1139 and a fellow clone trooper, designated 1137, were accidentally left behind on a desolate planet when their unit's headcount was incorrect, leading to their premature departure. This apparent misfortune turned out to be beneficial, as the stranded pair uncovered a secret weapon project belonging to the CIS. Driven by their loyalty, 1139 and their comrade decided to eliminate the threat. To accomplish this, they constructed a TX-130 fighter tank, which they used to successfully destroy the Separatist weapon. Shortly after, a Republic gunship, having realized their error, returned to collect them.
Impressed by their demonstrated capabilities, 1139 and 1137 were subsequently tasked with locating the missing astromech droid R2-D2. Supreme Chancellor Palpatine himself ordered their squad to find the droid before the Jedi could. Aboard a Nu-class attack shuttle, they first headed to the sector where R2-D2 was last detected, receiving guidance from a group of Rocket battle droids drifting in space. After landing on an unknown planet where their scanners detected numerous droid signals, the clone squad struggled to find any droids, they were ambushed by B1 and B2 battle droids. 1139's commander ordered the shuttle to provide covering fire as the other clones launched a direct assault. The clone squad quickly overwhelmed the droids and seized their Armored Assault Tank, only to be mistakenly bombed by their own forces in the shuttle.
After reviving the unconscious 1137, 1139 began repairing their squadron's weaponry. However, they were soon ambushed by another wave of Armored Assault Tanks. Fighting alongside their squad, 1139 and their comrades managed to commandeer the AATs, eventually reuniting with 1137 after the battle.
Their partnership with 1137 was briefly strained when 1139 expressed a desire for individual names instead of their numerical designation, a view not shared by 1137. Nevertheless, their disagreement was quickly resolved, and they resumed their mission. Eventually, they and their pilot arrived on an ice planet, where their ship crashed. Similar to their previous abandonment, this incident proved fortunate, leading to a chance encounter with the prominent CIS leader, Nute Gunray. Instead of directly attacking the Neimoidian's shuttle, 1139 and their companions devised a plan. While 1137 and the pilot distracted Gunray by pretending to sell Clone Scout cookies, 1139 and their commander subdued him. With this accomplished, the clone troopers stole the shuttle.
The next destination in their search for the astromech was Endor. Mistaking an Ewok for a hostile Wookiee, 1137 retreated into the shuttle. After being corrected by the commander, 1139 attempted to communicate with the Ewok. However, this attempt resulted in the entire group being captured. Upon waking up in the Ewoks' camp, 1139 discovered they were being roasted over a fire, while their comrades, including 1137, were being used as percussion instruments. Their predicament was short-lived, as Nute Gunray arrived with droids and tanks, seeking revenge for his humiliation. This intervention inadvertently allowed the troopers to escape, after which they quickly defeated their enemies. Dismayed by their ferocity, Gunray fled in his shuttle.
Despite the chaotic events, 1139 and their companions maintained enough composure to find another means of transportation: three BTL-B Y-wing starfighters. As they left Endor, they were intercepted by a Venator-class Star Destroyer. To 1139's surprise, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine was aboard. Extremely displeased with their performance, citing the fact that Anakin and Ahsoka had already recovered R2-D2, the Republic leader dismissed them from the Grand Army of the Republic. Consequently, 1139 and their comrades took a vacation at the beach.
The numbers 1137 and 1139 are directly adjacent to 1138. The comic's title, "Always count your clones before take-off," originates from the storyline where the duo was inadvertently left behind.
