Clone trooper designated 17 fought for the Grand Army of the Republic throughout the Clone Wars, a conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. In 22 BBY, during the First Battle of Geonosis, 17, along with fellow trooper Three-Five, aided clone commando Boss and two other clones in a defensive action. They held a barricade against the Separatist's B1-Series battle droids. After successfully repelling the advancing droids, the surviving clone soldiers advanced towards a gun emplacement.
Born on the planet Kamino via decanting by the Kaminoan species, 17 was a Human male clone. He was created using the genetic template of the Mandalorian bounty hunter Jango Fett. He functioned as a clone trooper for the Galactic Republic's Grand Army during the Clone Wars. The war was against the Confederacy of Independent Systems, a secessionist movement aiming to leave the Republic. 17 participated in the first battle of the Clone Wars in 22 BBY, fighting on the planet Geonosis.
While on Geonosis, 17 and his comrade Three-Five greeted the clone commando known as Boss. 17 called Boss to the attention of Three-Five, who then commented on the skill of the commandos. Three-Five stated that the commandos could defeat the Separatists on their own. The three clones, along with two others, then defended a barricade against the Separatist B1-Series battle droids. The droids circumvented the barricade by blasting through a wall, killing one of the clone troopers. Despite this loss, Boss, 17, Three-Five, and the remaining clone were able to defeat the attacking droids, forcing them back to a Separatist gun emplacement.
During the early stages of the Clone Wars, 17, like most clones, wore white Phase I clone trooper armor. His primary weapon was a DC-15S.
Trooper 17 made an appearance in the video game Star Wars: Republic Commando. It was developed by LucasArts and released in 2005. Roger Jackson provided the voice for the character.
