Clan Markona was a clan that referred to the community on Hubin in which Thane Markona and his daughter Tula lived.
Following the establishment of the Galactic Empire and the death of his parents, Markona left Hubin and started a mercenary company. Markona eventually met a field technician, married her, and had a daughter, Tula. Following his wife's death, Markona read a message from her, asking him to give himself, Tula, and the clan a better life. When the clan's members got older, they decided to go into retirement. They agreed to carry out one last mission for the Empire by gathering data from a secure location. After completing their mission, the clan was given Hubin as their private property, with Markona as their Thane. Clan Markona agreed to pay tithes to the Empire in order to be left alone due to Hubin not being useful.
Following the Rebel Alliance's devastating defeat at the Mako-Ta Space Docks, Markona rescued Princess Leia Organa, Captain Han Solo, and Commander Luke Skywalker from a thanrax. They were brought to Thane Markona's Estate. Markona and his clan's trackers were able to drive the thanrax pack away from the village. After entertaining Organa's team, Markona and Tula gave Skywalker a tour of the village and his family's grave plot. Markona and Luke then fought a a pack of thanrax. Together, they were able to defeat and drive the thanrax away from the village. The clan later watched a shoot out between Solo and one of their own. After Solo stunned his opponent, the clan stood down.
Markona then welcomed Sergeant Kreel and his SCAR squadron to his estate. Despite denying the presence of the rebels, SCAR Squadron confirmed the rebels were there due to their interrogation of their prisoner, Sana Starros. As SCAR Squadron and Organa's team prepared to fight each other, Markona ordered his daughter to stun Solo and Organa. Markona threatened to call in the rest of the clan if Kreel did not agree to duel Skywalker. Both Kreel and Skywalker agreed to it. After Skywalker escaped from the duel, Markona agreed to help the SCAR troopers track Skywalker. During this, Tula stunned Aero, freed Starros and revived Solo and Organa. As Tula and the others left, MK-1 sounded the alarm to gather the clan. Makona then fought SCAR Squadron until he was killed.
Tula, the clan, and Organa's team stole SCAR squadron's shuttle and left the moon as the clan agreed to join the Rebel Alliance. The clan and Organa's team went to the Imperial Impound Yard on Novka where they reclaimed Starros' Volt Cobra and a YT-2400 light freighter. Afterwards, they traveled to Brentaal IV, and after the rebels had met with Qensog, Skywalker told them they could join up with General Hera Syndulla on the Geist.
