Daisy Ridley (born April 10, 1992) is a British actress who stars in Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi, and Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker as the character Rey.
Ridley was born Daisy Jazz Isobel Ridley in Westminster, London on April 10, 1992, the daughter of the banker Louise Fawkner-Corbett and the photographer Christopher Ridley. She has two older sisters, Kika Rose and Poppy Sophia. Her great-uncle was the actor Arnold Ridley.
Ridley's involvement with the Star Wars saga was first announced on April 29, 2014. She also voiced her character in the video games Disney Infinity 3.0, LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and Star Wars: Battlefront II as well as doing the voice in the television series Star Wars Forces of Destiny.
On August 7, 2014, it was reported that Ridley would reprise her role as Rey in both Episodes VIII and IX.
Ridley won Best Breakthrough Performance for her portrayal of Rey at the 2016 MTV Movie Awards.
Star Wars composer John Williams cited Ridley's "enchanting performance" as Rey as a factor in his decision to return for Episode VIII, stating that he would not want another composer scoring her scenes.
At Celebration Europe (2023) it was announced that Ridley would reprise her role as Rey in an Untitled Star Wars film directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy set fifteen years after the events of .
