Death Star's holding room

The waiting chamber on the second Death Star was a space where individuals could wait, and it provided a link to Emperor Palpatine's throne room via an elevator. This room served as the designated area for officers, important figures, and members of the Imperial Ruling Council who were awaiting a meeting with Palpatine; they were required to stay there until their master decided to grant them an audience. Notably, even Darth Vader, the Emperor's trusted second-in-command, experienced the indignity of having to wait in the holding room, which greatly annoyed him.

Behind the scenes

Jerjerrod and two Royal Guards barring entrance to the Emperor's throne room

The holding room for the Emperor's throne room initially appeared briefly in the 1983 film Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi. Specifically, the scene depicted Moff Jerjerrod and a pair of Royal Guards preventing Darth Vader from accessing the turbolift. Despite being cut from the final theatrical release, this scene was later restored and included in the Star Wars: The Complete Saga Blu-ray collection.
