Defeat of the Sith

The defeat of the Sith, also known as the decimation of the Sith or the fall of the Sith, was an engagement fought at the world of Ruusan in the Mid Rim Territories during the year 1032 BBY. The incident marked the end of the Jedi-Sith War by appearing to be the destruction of the Sith Order.

Weakened after their greed and lust for power caused infighting amongst themselves, the Sith were all but destroyed by Jedi Knights. In truth, however, Darth Bane was left the sole Sith survivor of the war. He had helped bring about the destruction of his own order because he had come to believe that, for the Sith to survive, they needed to limit their numbers so as to prevent infighting. The victory began a new era for the Galactic Republic. Following the defeat of the Sith, Form II "Makashi" fell out of fashion in the Jedi Order and was gradually seen as a mere training exercise.
