He was the janitor of a residential building, and was remembered by his neighbor Kinalos as being cantankerous and committed to his work. During the Imperial Civil War that followed in the aftermath of the Second Battle of Coruscant in 10 ABY, Hamedaw's building was occupied by Imperial Stormtroopers and largely ruined. Many of the residents fled, though Kinalos, returning to the building with the New Republic Army, believed that Hamedaw would have died rather than leave his home.
