Kinalos served as a soldier for the New Republic during the era of the Imperial Civil War. He was part of a squad that included Sergeant Samels and Varshin.
Before the outbreak of the Imperial Civil War, he resided in apartment 2-C of a residential building located on Coruscant. He had a family consisting of at least two sons, a daughter named Henia, and his partner, Tanne.
Following the Second Battle of Coruscant in 10 ABY, the Galactic Empire successfully retook its former capital. However, the Empire quickly descended into internal conflict due to disagreements over the selection of the next Galactic Emperor. Much of Coruscant was devastated, including the street where Kinalos lived. His family perished, and his home was plundered and occupied by Imperial Stormtroopers.
After Operation Shadow Hand concluded and the New Republic regained control of Coruscant, the Army was deployed to eliminate the remaining Imperial forces. Kinalos encountered the ruins of his former street. Wielding a BlasTech X-42 flamethrower along with a pair of snub pistols, he purged the Stormtroopers from his destroyed residence, knowing he would never live there again.
Having eliminated the Stormtroopers from his former dwelling, Kinalos set the structure ablaze. Later, he documented his experiences in a book titled The Year of Rage: A Citizen's History of the Coruscant Wars.
