Hyperwave transceivers, alternatively known as hyper-transcievers, functioned as secure communication tools employed for the transmission of hyperwave signals. During the liberation of Kashyyyk which took place in 5 ABY, Sinjir Rath Velus utilized a hyperwave transceiver spike, ingeniously concealed within the heel of his boot, to broadcast signals. These signals effectively disrupted the control module responsible for governing the inhibitor chips. These chips were used to keep the Wookiee slaves on that planet compliant. This act ignited a widespread Wookiee revolt against the ruling Empire. Princess Leia Organa and her associates also made use of these devices during the course of Operation Yellow Moon.
