The Jawa Trading Outpost, also called the Jawa mountain fortress, served as a trade hub for Jawas on the planet of Tatooine. Located in the desert, this settlement was a center for commerce during the Galactic Civil War era.
Sometime before the Battle of Yavin, Jawas took over this Tatooine fortress, which had been previously abandoned at an unknown point in time. They transformed the location into a sprawling marketplace.

The Jawa mountain fortress was a permanent settlement and considered a primary residence for many Jawas. Jawas congregated there to trade in their active bazaar. Sandcrawlers were frequently parked at the fortress. It was the largest, permanent Jawa settlement on Tatooine, and a meeting place for Jawa tribes, settlers, thieves, and visitors from across the planet who came to buy, sell, and haggle. The fortress provided shelter for desperate fugitives.
In 1 ABY, the Jawa trader Ji'Ni Sil was approached by a spacer seeking a body casing from an R2 unit that previously belonged to Peggin Dulin and was later recovered by Jawas. Both Imperial Commander Barrezz and Rebel Captain Bastra sought the droid. Ji'Ni Sil's droid, C4-ZX, informed the spacer that the casing had been sold to a robonium miner. Although Tusken Raiders killed the miner, the spacer was eventually able to retrieve the casing.
The Jawa Mountain Fortress was featured in the Star Wars Galaxies video game, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony and published by LucasArts, before it was shut down on December 15, 2011.
