Carh'la Bastra was a Twi'lek female. During the Galactic Civil War, she held the rank of Captain within Rebel Alliance Intelligence.
Following the Battle of Yavin, Captain Bastra found herself stationed in Anchorhead on the desert planet of Tatooine. Her mission there was to enlist new recruits for the Rebellion's cause. Her direct supervisor was Special Agent Wilson Tchorshel. During her time in Anchorhead, she collaborated closely with Droma Ordo, another member of the Rebel Alliance. Furthermore, she had connections to the White Thranta Shipping Company, which served as a front for the illicit operations of Jabba the Hutt's criminal organization. This company was responsible for smuggling the majority of its goods to the Rebellion.
In the year 1 ABY, Bastra received the assignment of locating a specific cargo that had recently arrived from Tansarii Point Station. This cargo had become lost amongst Tatooine's diverse population, and both Rebel and Imperial Intelligence agencies were intensely interested in recovering it. Fortunately for Bastra, a spacer chose to assist her, rather than the Imperial Commander Barrezz.
Initially, Captain Bastra instructed the spacer to find the inventory list of the cargo contents, which had been acquired by a group of Jawa traders. These Jawas had recently been seen at Tosche Station, which is located near Anchorhead. At Tosche Station, the spacer learned from the manager, Cuan Talon, that he should inquire with his warehouse manager, Janus. However, Janus had already met his demise at the hands of the Desert Demons. From Janus' datapad, the spacer was able to retrieve the initial portion of the cargo data and discovered that the Jawas had also paid a visit to the Lars homestead. At the homestead, Zef Ando consented to provide the inventory of the items he had purchased from the Jawas. Ultimately, the spacer tracked down the Jawa sandcrawler in the Western Dune Sea, only to find it under attack by Tusken Raiders. The spacer intervened, repelling the Tusken Raiders and rescuing the Jawas and the droid FA-2PO. Subsequently, the spacer obtained Jawa encryption keys from the Tusken Raiders, granting him access to the sandcrawler's database.
Following this, Bastra directed the spacer to proceed to the Valarian Depot situated near Bestine. It became apparent that the Valarian crime syndicate had obtained a segment of the missing cargo. Despite the numerous guards patrolling the depot, the spacer successfully completed a full inventory by examining the manifests on the cargo pallets. Bastra then immediately tasked the spacer with heading to the Darklighter cache located near their estate, as it seemed that some of the cargo had ended up in their possession. However, the Darklighter guard named Draci informed the spacer that Desert Demons had infested the cave. Undeterred, the spacer fought through the cache and managed to conduct a complete inventory.
Next, Carh'la Bastra requested that the spacer deliver the gathered data to her slicer, Jem Lavar. Before this could happen, the spacer had to rescue Lavar from a group of gunrunners. Jem Lavar then analyzed the inventory data obtained from the Jawas, the Darklighters, and the Valarians, ultimately discovering that the R2 unit sought by both the Empire and the Rebellion had been purchased by the junk dealer Watto.
Bastra then instructed the spacer to recover the droids, sending them to Watto's Shop in Mos Espa. Upon arrival, the spacer discovered that the droids had already been sold off as spare parts. Nevertheless, Watto agreed to reassemble the droid if the spacer could acquire all the necessary components. The spacer managed to obtain the droid's body from Ji'Ni Sil in the Jawa Mountain Fortress, the legs from Syndil Na'Marr and a Bothan pilot, the motivator from a friend of An'Kwee, a deceased podracer pilot, the motivator booster controller from Pah and his gang, the diagnostic controller from within the Squill Cave, and finally the head from Jabba the Hutt's supervisor droid EV-9D9. Once the spacer returned to Watto's shop with all the required parts, Watto assisted in reassembling the droid. From the reassembled droid, the spacer successfully extracted the information sought by both the Empire and the Rebellion. Carh'la Bastra then ordered the spacer to immediately transmit this data to Special Agent Tchorshel on Naboo.
Carh'la Bastra existed as a non-player character within the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies. This game was a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game that was developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts. The game was ultimately shut down on December 15, 2011. Carh'la Bastra's inclusion in the game occurred as a component of the "Legacy Quest" feature, which was introduced with the release of "Publish 25," otherwise known as the "New Game Enhancements," on November 15, 2005.
