White Thranta Shipping Company

White Thranta Shipping Company, also referred to as White Thranta Shipping, or just White Thranta, functioned as a modest shipping enterprise situated on Tatooine during the Imperial Era. However, the company actually served as a facade concealing the illicit operations of Jabba the Hutt's criminal empire.

Description

The White Thranta Shipping Company was ostensibly founded by a coalition of business proprietors from Tatooine. Their stated aim was to fulfill the need for dependable shipping services spanning the galaxy. Their specialization lay in the transportation of perilous substances to a large portion of the known galaxy.

The main headquarters of the White Thranta Shipping Company was located a short distance from Mos Eisley, a city on the planet of Tatooine. Although seemingly legitimate, the company was, in reality, a disguise for the illegal undertakings of Jabba the Hutt. A significant number of security personnel were employed, both to provide security and to ensure the secrecy of the true activities occurring deep within their bunker. White Thranta's security forces utilized a customized version of the widely used Sg-82 sonic rifle.

History

The White Thranta Shipping bunker.

During the period of the Galactic Civil War, the White Thranta functioned as a smuggling hub, with the majority of its shipments destined for the Alliance to Restore the Republic. Among those implicated in the White Thranta's criminal endeavors were Bib Fortuna, Ree-Yees, Kane Ezruud, Kaazo Barrezz, Carh'la Bastra, Kosto Maggio, and Manu Rippodo.

Around the time of the Battle of Yavin, individuals associated with the White Thranta Shipping Company became involved in more dubious pursuits. Brok Ziam and Durr Roddack initiated the theft of funds belonging to the company, essentially Jabba's money, to finance medical experimentation. Within the confines of the bunker beneath the White Thranta offices, they conducted unethical experiments on sentient beings, without Jabba's knowledge. In total, White Thranta abducted and infected a minimum of 41 victims for medical research, including Dakk Jenzik, Leon Kovalski, Tork Magzyn, and an individual named Dina.

The deep recesses of the headquarters offered a glimpse of illegal experimentation in one of the complex's medical bays.

In 1 ABY, Reimos Taligg, an employee of Jabba, discerned irregularities within the White Thranta bunker and commissioned a spacer to infiltrate the company's computer systems, ultimately uncovering the truth. Subsequently, Reimos tasked the spacer with interrogating Durr Roddack. Roddack's refusal to cooperate led to his demise at the hands of the spacer. Utilizing data extracted from Durr's datapad and personal computer, Reimos identified Brok Ziam as the mastermind behind the entire operation. Ziam's refusal to surrender resulted in his eventual death by the spacer.

Simultaneously, a bounty hunter arrived at the White Thranta offices with the intention of executing Untas, who was in debt.

Behind the scenes

The White Thranta Shipping Company made an appearance in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies. This massively multiplayer online roleplaying game was created by Sony Online Entertainment and released by LucasArts before it was shut down on December 15, 2011. The White Thranta Shipping Company was incorporated into the game as part of the "Legacy Quest" when "Publish 25," also known as the "New Game Enhancements," was released on November 15, 2005.

In the unfinished quests "Opening Moves" and "Information Control," the Trandoshan Aigorn would have assigned the player the task of eliminating a member of the medical staff in the White Thranta infirmary and stealing medical information. In the game files related to this quest, the company is referred to as White Horse. In another quest that was not finished, Kashi VanDeef would have asked the player to save her husband, Pilar, from the White Thranta.
