At some point, Lakphro's yubal ranch was selected as a location for which a group of Agbui, led by Haplif, would settle to grow their spices. During the Agbui's stay, Lakris would befriend an Agbui girl, Frosif, and attempted to show her a "telepathy trick", in which she would call over a growzer, Slobber, by zipping up the teeth of a brass sealer. However, the sound made by the brass sealer made Frosif fall to the ground in terror. Before arriving at Celwis, Frosif had been traumatized by the sounds of a flat-blast artillery shell, which resembled the sound of the brass sealer. As an apology for the incident, Haplif, Frosif, and her mother, Shimkif, would gift Lakris and her mother, Lakansu, a pair of metal brooches. Lakphro, believing the gift to be a bribe, secretly confiscated Lakris's brooch and sent it to his cousin, Lakbulbup, and his wife, Dilpram, asking them to send it to a metallurgy lab. However, Lakbulbup would send Lakris's brooch to Chiss Senior Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo (Thrawn), who would use the brooch to uncover the Agbui plot to foment a civil war in the Chiss Ascendancy. Upon receiving the brooch, Thrawn would determine that the jewelry was being used by the Agbui as tools to foment a civil war in the Chiss Ascendancy. The brooch was later confirmed by Senior Captain Xodlak'in'daro (Lakinda) as partially composed of nyix, the rarest and most valuable metal known to the Chaos. Lakris would never receive her brooch back, as it was given to its rightful owner, the leader of the species whose world, Sunrise, had been decimated for the single purpose of the Agbui gaining possession of their nyix mines: the Magys.
