The Star Wars Legends 2010 reference book The Jedi Path: A Manual for Students of the Force established that Form VII was restricted following the events of the New Sith Wars during which the use of Juyo caused many Jedi to fall to the dark side and join forces with the Sith. However, the Star Wars canon Knights of Fate attributes this resurgence approximately four thousand years before the Clone Wars as the reason the Jedi Council forbade the study of Juyo in the Order. This may be an error, or a deliberate change.
