Sorgan frog

Sorgan frogs were a species of one-eyed frogs named for the forest planet Sorgan, though they could be found on a number of other worlds. The Mandalorian foundling Grogu had a particular taste for these amphibians and often tried to hunt them during his travels across the galaxy. Around 9 ABY, the child consumed a Sorgan frog on an Arvala-7 moisture farm, and later, while visiting a village on the animal's namesake planet, attempted to do the same to another frog. Grogu halted, however, when the girl Winta and several other children reacted in disgust, allowing the frog to escape into a nearby trough.

Around the same year on Tatooine, several Sorgan frogs were boiled alive and prepared as a meal for Daimyo Bib Fortuna at his palace by an EV-series sous-chef. The amphibians escaped, however, when the former bounty hunter Boba Fett chased an LEP-series ratcatcher through the palace kitchen. Sometime later, Grogu left his caretaker Din Djarin to study the ways of the Force with Luke Skywalker. While meditating with his Jedi Master on Ossus, Grogu used his Force powers to pull a Sorgan frog from a pond. In an effort to show his Padawan what was truly possible with these powers, Skywalker effortlessly lifted dozens of frogs from the pond before gently returning them to their home.

Sorgan frogs first appeared in "Chapter 2: The Child," an episode of the first season of Jon Favreau's television series The Mandalorian. The episode was directed by Rick Famuyiwa and aired on Disney+ on November 15, 2019. On December 23 of that year, the creatures were subsequently identified as Sorgan frogs in a StarWars.com article detailing merchandise from the show. The article revealed that a frog figure would come as an accessory for Grogu, then known as "the Child" in the Star Wars: The Black Series toyline.
