The class of starship was an asymmetrical spacecraft that was capable of space travel, with the use of at least one sublight engine on its port side. It was characterized by a boxed hull that featured several modular sections, as well as a large dorsal fin, although the fin could be absent from other vessels.
The starship was active during the Galactic Civil War between the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire, serving within the Alliance Fleet. Following the Battle at Rendezvous Point Delta-Three, at least two such starships were part of the Alliance Fourth Division, a naval division that was established after the Battle of Hoth, although one featured the large dorsal fin while the second did not.
The two ships remained with the division as Lando Calrissian and Chewbacca departed from the Redemption aboard the Millennium Falcon to begin their rescue of Han Solo. At least one ship with the fin attached was then subsequently was located in the Inner Rim along with the rest of the division when they received a transmission from the Seventh Division for reinforcements.

The starship debuted, albeit unidentified, in the 1980 saga film Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back as a background ship. The ship was prominently featured in one panel of Star Wars (2020) 7, which outlined more physical characteristics of the craft.
