We're halfway there

Hey Riffsyphon1024... good job

Hey Riffsyphon1024... good job

So guys, we're nearing the halfway point with this barn-burner. I just want to send out a broad message thanking everyone who has and plans on participating in Wookieepedia's second barn-burner, and update you guys on how it's going so far. So far, we have promoted nine Comprehensive Articles, twelve Good Articles, and one Featured Article! Fantastic job everyone who wrote and reviewed those weapons articles, I couldn't have asked for a better group to do so. We also have a number of current Good and Featured Article Nominations currently up, which you can see here.

However, as we approach the halfway point, I do want to encourage you all to keep writing and reviewing weapon articles for the barn-burner. Our goal should be to meet or surpass the level set by the previous barn-burner, which had over forty promoted articles. While we should aim to pass as many articles as possible by the end of the month, I may extend the barn-burner a little into September for any stragglers, especially for those Users who are writing extremely long Featured Articles for the project.

I should also notify participants of a recent Consensus Track over weapons that is about to pass. The CT is over when we should fill in the "Owners" field for Template:Weapon. Right now, it seems as if we are leaning towards filling in the field for unique weapon types, and not filling in the field for general weapon types. As such, we should fix any weapons we have, or will, write for the barn-burner to fit these new parameters. Thanks you for reading this, and keep up the good work. Kilson 09:43, August 15, 2011 (UTC)

  • Thanks for the big update Kilson! I'm glad to have been a part of the project. :) -- Riffsyphon 14:49, August 15, 2011 (UTC)

Hi Riffs :). I wondered if you could check your Wook associated email. Your input was requested on a thread almost a week ago ;). Cheers, Grunny 10:37, August 16, 2011 (UTC)

List of planets

Hi Riffsyphon1024.

I started makeing the table for List of planets S and when you started to help I had an idea. Do you think that we should get everyone together to finish the table? --Ssi-ruuk general 05:58, November 23, 2011 (UTC)

  • It is something that needs to be completed. We have data on most of these planets now via the Essential Atlas Companion. It's just a monster to finish, and I suppose that is why no one has gotten to it by now. A small project to complete them would be nice, if anything to get small chunks of the tables done. The tables are also the reason we kept these list pages, versus most other lists. Rather than simply list the planets, the goal is to provide viewers with a sort of one-stop shop for key points of information on any planet. That being noted however, the articles themselves will provide much more detailed information. -- Riffsyphon 06:20, November 23, 2011 (UTC)

Puddle?

Is the article on Brodo Asogi, really meant to say "Puddle footed", what in 9 hells is puddle footed when it's at home.--Dkwolf27 07:42, December 2, 2011 (UTC)

  • My mistake. I guess I had thought that was a real description, that we had been using for some time. Seemed there are paddle-footed species out there. -- Riffsyphon 07:49, December 2, 2011 (UTC)

Unidentified planet 24 (Dilonexa system)

  • Yes! Thanks a bunch guys! -- Riffsyphon 19:15, December 17, 2011 (UTC)

Barn-burner

Just wanted to encourage everyone participating in December's barn-burner on Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace to keep up the hard work! Only two articles have been passed, but five are currently nominated, and I suspect numerous projects are underway. The month is over halfway through, so we need to hurry and finish as many articles as we can before the end of the month. Keep writing and keep reviewing! Also, don't forget about the current CT on Databank entries in the "Sources" section, as many articles will have to be updated to meet the new criteria. I thank all of you for taking part in this project and working to make the site better for the release of The Phantom Menace in 3-D in February, and I'm confident the results will be satisfactory. Anyway, just keep...doing what you're doing. :P MasterFred 20:27, December 21, 2011 (UTC)

  • Yep, I'm about to submit at least one of the scalefish I'm working on. Maybe I shouldn't have taken on all seven?... -- Riffsyphon 05:32, December 22, 2011 (UTC)

Stae-Fahnti Koelbayr

Hi,

Sorry about not getting the formatting right on the Stae-Fahnti Koelbayr article; I had to make a minor correction in my Google Plus post when I realized that Colbert has an honorary D.F.A. (doctorate of fine arts) from Knox College, not an honorary Ph.D. (He is listed in the show's end credits as "Dr. Stephen T. Colbert, D.F.A.," which is what I was mimicking when I came up with the name "Dr. Stae-Fahnti Koelbayr.")

I updated the page to reflect the correct the reference to an honorary D.F.A. rather than an honorary Ph.D., and I also changed the first sentence to remove the reference to Koelbayr as a doctor (i.e. physician). He's never identified as a physician in the Gem of Alderaan text, so this link was erroneous. As a comparison, look at the entry immediately preceding Koelbayr's: "Dr. Hakaen Bousch (old male Mon Calamari, physician)" is specifically identified as a physician to clarify the use of the title "Dr." in the text.

Sorry again for the format & style errors; I'm very new to wiki editing, and I appreciate you cleaning up my mess. :)

  • We all make whoopsies. Sorry again for the edit conflict. Thanks for bringing this new information to our knowledge. :) -- Riffsyphon 22:53, December 22, 2011 (UTC)

Re:Moogans in TCW: Slaves of the Republic

I'm sorry for not responding sooner, Riff. I believe they were featured in the Slaves episode, and I'll have the info for you soon. :) JangFett 23:39, December 22, 2011 (UTC)

  • It's a very minor appearance. Basically they are the "extra" character models present during the slave auction on Zygerria. That's about it. JangFett 02:34, December 31, 2011 (UTC)

Hello, Riffsyphon1024. Following the pagemove of Dark Apprentice to Dark Apprentice (novel), I went through and attempted to change all links to Dark Apprentice to the new name. However, I was unable to change the link on your userpage because it is fully protected. As the Dark Apprentice title is now occupied by a character article, the link(s) on your userpage now most likely point to the wrong article. You may want to check your userpage and correct the link(s) if necessary. On behalf of my operator, Advanced Jedi Training Droid 6 03:27, December 24, 2011 (UTC)

  • Dear AJTD6. The link has been fixed. Your mission is complete. -- Riffsyphon 00:52, January 1, 2012 (UTC)

BB extension

Just letting you know that the barn-burner has been extended through January due to a lack of activity during a busy December and the release of the film still being a month away. You can see discussion here. MasterFred 22:48, January 1, 2012 (UTC)

Hey, Riff, do you have a moment to check something in Inside the Worlds of Star Wars Trilogy for me? On the cantina cutaway two-page spread, are Leesub Sirln and Ownellco the Lutrillian visible just above the bar and near the Tonnika sisters? And if the two are present, does the book label them? I can only see the book on Amazon.com, and there, I can't see what's right near the spine. Thanks for your help! ~Savage 04:19, January 2, 2012 (UTC)

  • Hey Bob. I'm in a weird situation right now. I have net access in town, but not at the house where I have the book. I'll get to the book tonight and get the info back to you as soon as possible. -- Riffsyphon 01:50, January 4, 2012 (UTC)

Hey

Hey Riff. I posted a message to Wookieepedia's Facebook page a day or two ago, requesting the posting of January 11th's QOTD, but got no response. Do you think it would be possible for you or one of the other admins with access to the page to make that happen? I assume the only reason it wasn't featured like the so many others was because everyone was busy that day. Thanks in advance. :D Bella'Mia 06:25, January 15, 2012 (UTC)

  • Hi Bella. I operate the page and generally add QOTD's as I see them, so not every QOTD makes it when it is featured, however I could go back and throw that one in after the most recent one fades out. -- Riffsyphon 02:05, January 18, 2012 (UTC)

Not sure how to cite it, but it may be worth a mention...

January 8 of 2011, I had gone to a book signing for Red Harvest. I asked Joe Schreiber if he uses Wookieepedia, and he said that he has a shortcut to it on his desktop. I'd add that to the Wookieepedia Popular Acclaim section, but I haven't a way to cite it. I have a pic of me with Schreiber, so I can at the very least prove that I was there, but since I was getting books signed, and there was a big crowd, I wasn't really prepared to conduct a formal interview and write stuff down. Besides, my attention was immediately focused on File:Meandzuckuss.jpg|glomping Zuckuss when I saw him meander to the front of the store. :P So, anyway, there's that bit of Schreiber. Not sure what you can do with it, but there it is. Trak Nar 07:11, April 26, 2012 (UTC)

  • The same situation occurs with me when I talk to celebrities involved with Star Wars. We already know Dan Wallace is a Wookieepedia geek so that's a given, though in recent talks with artist Lee Kohse, he said that he uses the site for photo reference a lot and applauded me for helping him move up in the art world essentially. Additionally, I unveiled the Wookieepedia logo shirt at a Q&A session with Anthony Daniels, who considered me "expert" enough to sit at the front of the panel for half the show. I do have photos of that from another photographer... -- Riffsyphon 07:29, April 26, 2012 (UTC)

A Request for mediation

I am appealing to you to draw your attention to a matter on the administrators noticeboard. I have been unfairly blocked from my user account User: Darth Ceratis for reasons that are untrue and unfair, as I relate in my argument there, by one of your fellow Bureaucrats, user: Darth Culator. I presented my case in a very civil and professional manner, and I’m requesting that you mediate the conflict. Culator has protected the article so I can no longer post in it in any capacity, despite the fact that I have broken no rules of conduct. Additionally, he has extended my block from the maximum of one month (already uncalled for given the original issue) to an infinite one due to “Block evasion.” I have evaded my block only in order to appeal to have it removed, as I have not figured out any other way to do so. I’ve made no other edits than to attempt to plead my case on the admin notice board. I understand that it is generally the policy that administrators do not overrule one another’s decisions, but I firmly believe that Culator is abusing his power regarding his treatment of me, and I would like some neutral parties to involve themselves.216.8.121.1 19:19, May 4, 2012 (UTC)

Printed version of articles

Hello Riffsyphon. I seem to remember that, some tme ago, you intended to make a printed version of the C-3PO article as a gift for Anthony Daniels. Have you ever been able to get this project to work? Regards. --LelalMekha 11:58, June 18, 2012 (UTC)

  • I already printed off the article and handed it to Anthony Daniels in a clear folder in April. He seems to have enjoyed it. :) -- Riffsyphon 01:02, June 21, 2012 (UTC)

Comic-Con

Greetings! You may already know, but Star Wars will be involved with Comic-Con this year. Wikia will have a physical presence at the 'Con once again, and we've created this badge:

to remind users of this, and provide them with a link to Comic-Con Wiki. There, we will be updating live for the duration of the event with images, info, and exclusives for those users who are unable to be there in person. Would you be willing to allow this badge on the main page here (hopefully at the top of the right column) until the conclusion of the event? Please let me know either way so I can add it, or make a note that you've declined affiliation. You're welcome to add it yourself using the code above, but please drop me a note as well so I can track which wikis are participating. Thank you for your time! :)

  • With all due respect to Riff, I think this would be better suited for the Senate Hall. Since this is something that would affect all of Wookieepedia, it should be discussed by the entire community.—Cal Jedi 01:38, July 6, 2012 (UTC)
  • I do appreciate the acknowledgment XD1, but Cal is right. If you are able to post to the Senate Hall, please do so there, so as the entire community can make a judgment on participation of this. I'm not even sure how many of our users will be attending this con, and we have been working to get users to Celebration VI: the official Star Wars convention this year. -- Riffsyphon 05:18, July 6, 2012 (UTC)

No, sorry, I wiped the appearances section clean when I started going through the book page by page. I was at like page 52 - I'll finish it later this week. Cade Calrayn 17:11, October 17, 2012 (UTC)

  • Cade. You can't remove what someone else has added. That took me an hour to work on.. -- Riffsyphon 05:36, October 18, 2012 (UTC)

Would you mind sharing exactly where on StarWars.com you found this image? I can't seem to find it anywhere, and I like to keep a record of all the image I can from SW.com in their original form because who knows when they'll change things up again and we'll lose everything there again. - JMAS 22:29, November 25, 2012 (UTC)

  • Snarf. *facepalm* Okay, so here's the situation with this image. It came as a post from the Facebook page for Star Wars: The Clone Wars and after I posted it, I was hoping to cross-reference on the Clone Wars portion of StarWars.com as I usually would. However, I cannot find it on the actual site, and I looked within their screenshots and concept art. Yet, the information contained within clearly came from something official if that page was the one to release it.. or so I thought. So I am still looking for the place it appears there, if ever. Otherwise I'm unsure how we would cite something posted on Facebook. Here is the link to the Facebook post, pending you have access. I should have been more stringent on myself. -- Riffsyphon 07:32, November 26, 2012 (UTC)

100, 000! Huzzah!

Holy crap --- 100,000 articles. Your baby is all grown up. :D Riff! I want to write some kind of Wookieepedia NewsNet post reflecting on the history of Wookieepedia and how we got to this point. Would I be able to ask you some questions about its founding and early days? Let me know. I could ask them here, or via e-mail. I'd most likely write the post similarly to this one rather than as a straight question-and-answer one like the WOTM interviews.

I'd also like to talk to some other Wookieepedians who were really active back in the Wook's early days, like jSarek, Fourdot, and WhiteBoy. Do you have any essential names you think should be added to that list? Would WhiteBoy's talk page still be the best way to get in touch with him? Aaaaaaand any idea how to get in contact with Fourdot? :P Thanks! Menkooroo (talk) 02:55, January 12, 2013 (UTC)

  • Hey Menkooroo. So firstly I do accept your request for interview. I have been doing my best to keep record of everything Wookieepedia on our wiki article. I think I can answer the questions here for record. In regards to finding others, jSarek is still quite active and I do converse with him regularly on Facebook for example. 4Dot is another situation as I haven't heard a peep from him in years. Chad (WhiteBoy) started the project off but left it to us to focus on other things. I think I may still be connected to him, but otherwise hit up his wall. I'd also look into communicating with LtNOWIS (active up to the end of 2012), Darth Culator (still active), SFH (active since August 2005), and Grunny (active since the end of 2005/beginning of 2006), just to name a few. I've been charting all admins and WOTMs out on a timeline template, though for the moment it's broken. I may have stuck too many in there... -- Riffsyphon 03:53, January 12, 2013 (UTC)
  • OK! Here are four questions. They call for pretty anecdotal responses, so feel free to answer them in as many words as you'd like. Thanks again. I'll be asking similar questions to WhiteBoy (pending his agreement) and also asking for the thoughts of a big list of other people. Menkooroo (talk) 15:08, January 12, 2013 (UTC)

Making a better "Timeline of media" revisited

Hi Riffsyphon1024, I recently picked up where Morbus Iff left off a while ago on the Timeline of media revamp discussed here, to which you contributed. Nabooian Elders in "New Essential Guide to Alien Species"

Hello Riffsyphon. It seems that you own a copy of The New Essential Guide to Alien Species, and I'd like to ask you if you could check something in that book for me. I'm currently working on the article pertaining to the Nabooian Elders, and it seems that book mentions about the Gungans driving them off Naboo around 100 BBY. Your help here would be much appreciated. :-) Regards. --LelalMekha (talk) 18:06, March 2, 2013 (UTC)

  • Hey, Riff. That's me again. I certainly do not wish to bother you, but you may have missed my message, so I only wanted to give you a little reminder just in case. I'm having trouble finding someone who owns that book, so it would be really helpful if you had the solution. Regards. --LelalMekha (talk) 00:42, April 4, 2013 (UTC)

Hi, there! We're working on a Star Wars content initiative here at Wikia that I thought you might be interested in participating in. It involves video, so I'm wondering if we could setup quick Skype video chat, Google+ Hangout, Facetime, or something of that sort to discuss?

Whoops, I saw only the anon edit to the AFD Episode VII article and went straight for the full lock before I saw your reaction of semi-protection. If you'd rather restore it to semi, I'm fine with that. Don't want you to feel that I'm stepping on your toes. 04:11, April 3, 2013 (UTC)

Underpopulated categories

In my...travels through Wookieepedia, I found this on a category, Category: Skiffs, to be precise. You placed it there way back in '06, and I was wondering: 1. is the template still needed on the Skiffs category, or can I remove it, and 2. what would be a good range of pages for a category to be under the "popcat" template, or do even need it? Trip391 (talk) 06:50, July 14, 2013 (UTC)

  • We still need Popcat for categories with 1-10 where we know there are more to be added, granted this was most helpful during growth from the early days. I'd say more than 10, you could probably remove the popcat template. -- Riffsyphon 08:58, July 14, 2013 (UTC)

Daggert

Hello Riff! Since I managed to make a copy of Star Wars Episode I: The Gungan Frontier work on my computer, I thought you'd be interested to see those two screencaps: the first one is about the daggert fishes themselves, and the second one is about Todd Daggert, who worked on the game. I don't know whether there's a link between the species' name and the developper, but I still wanted to show it to you. Cheers! -- 13:23, March 8, 2014 (UTC)

  • That is interesting. I'm not sure I can tie the two together without another source confirming it. But there is new information regarding the fish and that is always helpful. -- Riffsyphon 07:24, March 10, 2014 (UTC)

Its "mee" again :-)

Hey Riff. While re-reading Episode I Adventures 9: Rescue in the Core, I stumbled upon this sentence: "They were followed by an albino dianoga, three broadtailed fanbacks, and a school of jumbo daggerts. All were rare aquatic life-forms. Jar Jar blinked in disbelief, then asked aloud, “How come all dese rarity aquabeasts are outta dare bubbles?”" This implies that therer existed a rarer subspecies of jumbo-sized mees. -- 22:21, March 19, 2014 (UTC)

  • Oh, and another thing: I have confirmation that the Daggert fish was named after Todd Daggert. I just asked Terryl Whitlatch. ;-) -- 23:30, March 19, 2014 (UTC)

OF

Hey, Riff. Just letting you know that Rule 6 of the Official Friends removal process states that the vote still needs to run its course per WP:CON even though the link has been removed from the Main Page. In other words, it still needs to receive at least 10 contributing votes to meet consensus and remain open for at least a week. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 05:54, April 8, 2014 (UTC)

Anaheim

  • Thanks for the re-welcome! It's really, really good to be back. And yeah, I'm definitely good with helping out in any way I can. Just keep me posted on anything I can do (I'll keep watching the page, too). 01:28, April 14, 2014 (UTC)

Serbian Wookieepedia

Hi, I need some help. I am editing Wookieepedia in Serbian and it seems that it is not completed. You see, there is absence of all options and by that I speaking of templates, infoboxes, opening crawls...i cannot add external links, appearances and all other stuff You can or editors in other languages. I tried all tutorials or guidelines there is and it won't work. I also contacted Wiki and they recommended You, so I am pleading for assistance. Can anyone check it out? I did almost 900 pages and they look pathetic. I am not replicating no one, i just want pages to look decent and nice. Can You help?--Edenbeast666 (talk) 18:13, April 18, 2014 (UTC)

  • Hello Eden. I appreciate that someone pointed towards me in regards to this, however you may want to talk to our tech guy, Grunny for possible assistance, at least with coding or other troubleshooting. I believe templates can be copied between wikis per the CC-SA agreement though. For all other general wiki editing information, I would recommend reading this Wikipedia page, which is almost identical in nature to our wiki markup on Wikia, save for special features. Hope this helps. -- Riffsyphon 02:28, April 23, 2014 (UTC)

Thank You for answer and directions, I'll do as You suggested. Again big thanks.--Edenbeast666 (talk) 15:51, April 23, 2014 (UTC)

Apology

Hey, Riff. I nominated you for WOTM, but it seems to have backfired into causing some snarky users to make some immature comments about you. So I'd like to apologize for causing the situation to happen, and to let you know that I, if nobody else, was fully behind your reversion of Culator's main page edit last month. Thanks for looking out for the site's best interests when few others were, and sorry again for creating a situation where certain users feel the need to childishly bash you. • Well that sounds fun. -- Riffsyphon 02:33, May 5, 2014 (UTC)

Legends and Canon

Hey Riff, I just wanted to let you know that with articles from TCW, we should have both a Legends and a Canon article, since TCW is actually considered both Canon and Legends. So while Jogan fruit would be the Legends version of the article, there would also be a Canon version at Jogan fruit, if you know what I mean Trip391 (talk) 08:34, August 5, 2014 (UTC)

  • I'm already confused. -- Riffsyphon 21:23, August 5, 2014 (UTC)
  • After the Canon/Legends decision, everything from Legends sources should go in Legends articles, and anything from Canon sources should be in Canon articles. If there is information on something that already exists in Legends sources and it also appears in Canon sources, like barium in A New Dawn, the information should then be placed into a Canon article on the topic instead of a Legends article since A New Dawn is a Canon source. Anything new from Canon sources would simply be placed in a Canon article. Trip391 (talk) 03:04, September 11, 2014 (UTC)
  • I'm trying my best, Trip. -- Riffsyphon 05:54, September 11, 2014 (UTC)

Manning the Wookieepedia table at Celebration Anaheim

Hello. This message is to inform you of new developments regarding Wookieepedia's presence at Celebration Anaheim this upcoming April. Since you had previously expressed interest in attending and manning a table if we got one, I'm passing this along to you so you're aware what's going on and can provide feedback if need be. Please check out the discussion here. Thanks. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 18:42, November 20, 2014 (UTC)

J-type 327 Nubian royal starship/Canon

Hi Riff. I added {{Referenceless}} to J-type 327 Nubian royal starship/Canon as the page is largely devoid of references. Please be sure to add them so the template can be removed. Thanks! - Brandon Rhea 07:46, December 31, 2014 (UTC)

  • It's a challenge determining what information goes to canon sources, as I've found that information in the defunct Databank is even used to cite now Legends material. It's likely I just need to remove all those referenceless sentences as they truly are non-canon now. -- Riffsyphon 07:49, December 31, 2014 (UTC)

Hi. As someone who has been involved in recent Senate Hall discussions about a Canon/Legends default change, I wanted to draw your attention to this thread and invite you to participate in our efforts to fill in as many /Canon redlinks as possible. Hope to see you join in! - Brandon Rhea 20:53, March 1, 2015 (UTC)

  • Yes, I intend to get back to this and do so properly. Thank you for the notification. -- Riffsyphon 22:24, March 3, 2015 (UTC)

The New Essential Guide to Weapons and Technology question

Hey Riff, I was wondering/hoping you would be able to check this book and see if it identifies the Phase 1 clone trooper armor as such? I'd really appreciate it, thanks! Manoof (talk) 08:21, April 9, 2015 (UTC)

  • Ignore this, Trip just helped out :) Manoof (talk) 08:40, April 9, 2015 (UTC)

Watcher Three

Hey, Riff. The Watcher Three page is listed as a disambiguation, but both links contain the same pages - one with all the information and the other as nothing more than a redirect to the same page. If I merge all the main info to the Watcher Three page, could you delete the other two? | 17:31, April 15, 2015 (UTC)

Ezra's Rebel Journal

Hey Riff. The book lists Daniel Wallace as the out of universe author on the last page. Ayrehead02 (talk) 09:51, April 27, 2015 (UTC)

  • Thanks. That is consistent with his authorship of Sabine's Rebel Sketchbook. -- Riffsyphon 05:46, April 28, 2015 (UTC)

Hey Riff, your userpage is now unprotected. Supreme Emperor (talk) 03:41, December 20, 2015 (UTC)

Canon articles

This is unacceptable unless you do as the AbuseFilter warning told you when you made the edit, and change the links to the Legends article. Cade Calrayn 03:52, December 20, 2015 (UTC)

  • Apologies, Cade. I was attempting to make all links from Girondium (Canon) to canon articles, including another substance that links from that page, but is currently in Legends format. I will look at it again. Thank you for understanding. -- Riffsyphon 04:45, December 20, 2015 (UTC)

Riot control stormtrooper image

I'd be perfectly okay with using that image for the Riot control stormtrooper if the text was removed, but I'm pretty sure that those descriptions make the image out-of-universe, don't you think? I'd remove them myself, but I'm not very skilled at image manipulation and so even if I removed the text, it'd still be stuck with those lines obscuring the leg and shoulder / shield. ProfessorTofty (talk) 06:20, January 5, 2016 (UTC)

  • You're right. Can we find this image without annotations then? I still believe we should keep the screenshot as the primary image for the film character. -- Riffsyphon 07:36, January 5, 2016 (UTC)

Bomber Command

Hey, I realized after I edited that there was an In Use tag on the page, I'm sorry if I caused any editing conflicts!--Vitus Infinitus (talk) 04:27, December 18, 2017 (UTC)
