Vagaari pod

The Vagaari species put their prisoners in pods located on their warships' hulls to discourage counterattacks. The pods were known to the nation of the Chiss species, the Chiss Ascendancy, in which stories of them circulated. Around 18 BBY, after a skirmish with several marauders' gunboats, the Chiss heavy cruiser Springhawks crew attempted to recover body samples from the wreckage of the gunboats it destroyed; however, no remains of any body were found, which led the Springhawks Caregiver Mitth'ali'astov to remember the Vagaari pods' stories. She then shared that with her commander, Senior Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo, who verified the stories the caregiver had heard.

The Vagaari pods were mentioned in the current Star Wars canon in the 2021 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Greater Good, the second volume of Timothy Zahn's Ascendancy Trilogy. In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the zero-g plastic bubbles employed by the Vagaari Empire as living shields first appeared in Zahn's 2004 novel Survivor's Quest and were named as such in his 2006 novel Outbound Flight.
