The encampment was home to around forty Wyrd members and consisted of a number of huts sited next to a cave network consisting of two caverns. The outer cave was used as living quarters for the coven's senior witches including their leader, the First Witch of the Wyrd. The cave contained some curtained-off sleeping places as well as food supplies, portable furniture and personal items of the witches. The inner chamber was employed as a religious shrine and work area and contained several scrolls setting out the Wyrd's xenophobic preachings.
By the later stages of the Clone Wars, the Wyrd had suffered various setbacks and were reduced in number, no longer retaining the strength to maintain a permanent settlement. Around 19 BBY, the last of the witches gathered at the encampment under the leadership of the First Witch. After receiving teachings from Len Markus, the leader of the Believers Sith cult, on how to corrupt Cularin's native ch'hala trees, the witches plotted to turn the trees to the dark side of the Force and thereby allow them to gain control of the planet's ecology. On of the witches, Cheelru of the Wyrd's Inner Circle challenged the the plot and was chained up by the First Witch within the inner chamber of the encampment's cave network as punishment.
The First Witch and a number of her followers departed the camp to proceed with their plan to subvert the ch'hala. The witches that remained at the camp became listless and depressed, assuming that if the scheme to debase the ch'hala trees failed the Wyrd would face death and defeat. A group of freelance agents ventured to the camp while investigating the Wyrd's plot and after making their way past the guards learned from the captive Cheelru of the witches' plans.
