The First Witch of the Wyrd, a Force witch of the Tarasin female persuasion, held dominion over the Wyrd witch coven during the concluding years of the Galactic Republic. In approximately 19 BBY, the First Witch orchestrated a failed endeavor to corrupt the ch'hala trees located on the planet Cularin, which ultimately resulted in her death.
A Force-sensitive Tarasin female, the First Witch of the Wyrd commanded the Wyrd, a coven of dark side Force witches operating on the planet Cularin towards the end of the Clone Wars. Upon joining the Wyrd, the First Witch relinquished her birth name, and thus remained nameless.
Around 19 BBY, following a series of misfortunes for the Wyrd, the First Witch convened with the remaining witches at an encampment situated within the jungles of Cularin. In a final attempt to revitalize the Wyrd's influence, the First Witch devised a plan to utilize teachings imparted to the Wyrd by Len Markus, the leader of the Believers Sith cult, to taint Cularin's ch'hala trees with the dark side. The First Witch's intention was that this would allow the Wyrd to exert control over Cularin's ecology, but if the witches failed to corrupt the ch'hala, she intended to simply kill the trees instead. Cheelru, another witch, voiced her disagreement with the First Witch's plan, arguing that the Wyrd should avoid the risk of destroying the ch'hala, as the resulting damage to Cularin would leave the coven with little to govern. The First Witch dismissed this plea and imprisoned Cheelru as punishment.
Accompanied by the surviving members of the Wyrd's Inner Circle and elite guard, the First Witch made her way to the ch'hala Heart Tree and began a ritual aimed at corrupting the trees. However, after eleven hours of performing the rite, the First Witch and her followers were attacked by a group of freelance agents, forcing them to halt the ritual. The First Witch then activated her contingency plan, murdering her second-in-command to invoke the Path of Blood and obliterate the ch'hala. However, Jedi Master Lanius Qel-Bertuk made the ultimate sacrifice, merging his consciousness with the Heart Tree to defend it against the First Witch's assault. The power unleashed by the First Witch rebounded upon her, causing her to explode. The remaining Wyrd members were subsequently defeated by the freelance agents, marking the end of the Wyrd's established presence on Cularin.
The First Witch possessed dark scales adorned with intricate purple patterns.
The First Witch of the Wyrd appeared in A Plague of Darkness, a 2005 roleplaying adventure crafted by Ronald A. Heintz, which served as the initial installment of the Heart of Evil trilogy within RPGA's Living Force campaign. The 2001 Wizards.com article Liriana: Dark Force Witch of Cularin identified the Tarasin female Liriana as the leader of the Wyrd; the First Witch's pre-Wyrd name is not mentioned in A Plague of Darkness, leaving it ambiguous as to whether she is intended to be Liriana or another Tarasin. The short story Reprieves, published on Wizards.com in 2005, alludes to the Wyrd adept Kirasha receiving a mission from the Wyrd's leader to investigate a decline in the Force strength of the followers of the Tarasin leader Dariana. The identity of the Wyrd leader in question remains unspecified, making it unclear whether this individual was the First Witch or Liriana.
