Ritual of the Power of the Dark

The Ritual of the Power of the Dark, a Force based ceremony originating from old Sith doctrines, was capable of producing the power required to corrupt a ch'hala tree to the dark side of Force. Around 19 BBY, Len Markus, head of the Believers Sith cult, gave information regarding this ritual to the Wyrd, a coven of Tarasin Force sensitive witches hailing from the planet Cularin. The leader of these witches, the First Witch of the Wyrd, planned to use the ritual to force Cularin's World Tree Ch'hala to succumb to the dark side and thus be controlled by the Wyrd. The witches questioned the ritual's success in corrupting the ch'hala, with the witch Cheelru arguing against its use, resulting in her imprisonment by the First Witch for her dissenting opinion.

After infecting the ch'hala with a plague to weaken and frighten it, the witches initiated the ritual to permanently shift the ch'hala to the dark side. A collection of high ranking Wyrd witches congregated around a sapling located near the ch'hala Heart Tree. The First Witch then drove a meter-long, black metallic rod into the tree while chanting in an ancient dialect of Tarasin speech, all while concentrating their power. The rite caused a purple aura to emanate from the wounded sapling, and the witches maintained the ritual for a duration of eleven hours. However, the witches were compelled to cease the ritual after coming under attack by a team of freelance agents.
