During the waning years of the Clone Wars, the Wyrd witch coven congregated at a settlement situated within the jungles of the planet Cularin.
The settlement housed approximately forty members of the Wyrd and comprised several huts located adjacent to a cave system consisting of two chambers. The outer cave served as living space for the coven's leading witches, including their head, the First Witch of the Wyrd. Inside the cave were curtained-off sleeping areas, along with food provisions, transportable furnishings, and the witches' personal belongings. The inner chamber functioned as both a religious sanctuary and a workspace, containing multiple scrolls detailing the Wyrd's xenophobic doctrines.
As the Clone Wars drew to a close, the Wyrd had experienced several downfalls and their numbers had diminished, leaving them without the ability to maintain a permanent base. Around 19 BBY, the remaining witches gathered at the settlement under the direction of the First Witch. Having been taught by Len Markus, the leader of the Believers Sith cult, on how to corrupt the native ch'hala trees of Cularin, the witches devised a scheme to turn the trees to the dark side of the Force, thus enabling them to seize control of the planet's ecosystem. Cheelru of the Wyrd's Inner Circle questioned the plan and was subsequently chained up by the First Witch inside the inner chamber of the settlement's cave system as a form of punishment.
The First Witch, along with several of her adherents, left the camp to execute their plan of corrupting the ch'hala. The witches who stayed behind at the camp became apathetic and despondent, believing that if the scheme to defile the ch'hala failed, the Wyrd would face death and utter defeat. While looking into the Wyrd's scheme, a party of freelance agents made their way to the camp and, after getting past the guards, learned about the witches' intentions from the imprisoned Cheelru.
